Peter said,“ Brothers and sisters, a long time ago the Holy Spirit spoke through David. He spoke about Judas Iscariot. What the Scripture said would happen had to come true. Judas was the guide for the men who arrested Jesus.

“ Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

“ Brothers,” he said,“ the Scriptures had to be fulfilled concerning Judas, who guided those who arrested Jesus. This was predicted long ago by the Holy Spirit, speaking through King David.

“ Brothers and sisters, it was necessary that the Scripture be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David foretold about Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

“ Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

“ Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;

Brethren, it was needful that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.

If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide.But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend,with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers.Let death take my enemies by surprise; let them go down alive to the realm of the dead, for evil finds lodging among them.

This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet:“ Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:“ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn— and I would heal them.”

So, as the Holy Spirit says:“ Today, if you hear his voice,do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness,

While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people.

“ Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.

Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said,“ My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.”

Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin,“ My brothers, I am a Pharisee, descended from Pharisees. I stand on trial because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead.”

But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said,“ I am thirsty.”A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.When he had received the drink, Jesus said,“ It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled:“ Not one of his bones will be broken,”

They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement:“ The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your ancestors when he said through Isaiah the prophet:

“ Brothers and fathers, listen now to my defense.”

If he called them‘ gods,’ to whom the word of God came— and Scripture cannot be set aside—

Three days later he called together the local Jewish leaders. When they had assembled, Paul said to them:“ My brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or against the customs of our ancestors, I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.

If you are looking for me, then let these men go.”

After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying,“ Brothers, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, please speak.”

Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.

You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David:“‘ Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.’Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.

“ Fellow children of Abraham and you God- fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent.The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed.When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb.

This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.

After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them:“ Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

To this he replied:“ Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Harran.

David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared:“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’

When they finished, James spoke up.“ Brothers,” he said,“ listen to me.

While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him,
