The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.Jesus answered him,“ I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.”

And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.Jesus answered and said to them,“ Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:“ Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being( as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,

The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

“ Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—

Jesus answered them,“ Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”The Jews answered Him, saying,“ For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”Jesus answered them,“ Is it not written in your law,‘ I said,“ You are gods”’?If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came( and the Scripture cannot be broken),do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world,‘ You are blaspheming,’ because I said,‘ I am the Son of God’?If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”

Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,
