Therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a tested stone, A precious cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. The one who believes in it will not be disturbed.

But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles, to which you want to be enslaved all over again?

‘ I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have followed My word, and have not denied My name.

So I say this, and affirm in the Lord, that you are to no longer walk just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their minds,being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;and they, having become callous, have given themselves up to indecent behavior for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.But you did not learn Christ in this way,if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people,instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age,looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds.

Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and blameless by Him, at peace,

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,’

According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it.For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Turn from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.

from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be evident that they all are not of us.

And in this way I aspired to preach the gospel, not where Christ was already known by name, so that I would not build on another person’s foundation;

Love must be free of hypocrisy. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good.

For false christs and false prophets will arise and will provide great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but remains forever.As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people From this time and forever.

‘ What are you, you great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring out the top stone with shouts of“ Grace, grace to it!” ’ ”Also the word of the Lord came to me, saying,“ The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of armies has sent me to you.

And to mankind He said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to turn away from evil is understanding.’ ”

So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and then I will bless them.”

When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

Hate evil, you who love the Lord, Who watches over the souls of His godly ones; He saves them from the hand of the wicked.

for false christs and false prophets will arise, and will provide signs and wonders, in order to mislead, if possible, the elect.

I am not speaking about all of you. I know the ones whom I have chosen; but this is happening so that the Scripture may be fulfilled,‘ He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’

having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone,

God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

and for the Gentiles to glorify God for His mercy; as it is written:“ Therefore I will give praise to You among the Gentiles, And I will sing praises to Your name.”

For he will never be shaken; The righteous will be remembered forever.

for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?Who will bring charges against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, but rather, was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

What answer will one give the messengers of the nation? That the Lord has founded Zion, And the poor of His people will take refuge in it.”
