He put garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.

He stationed some soldiers all through Edom. The whole nation of Edom was brought under David’s rule. The Lord helped him win his battles everywhere he went.

Then he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.

He placed army garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s subjects. In fact, the Lord made David victorious wherever he went.

耶和華回答她：“兩國在你肚裡，兩族從你腹中要分出來；將來這族必強過那族，大的要服事小的。”

我看見他，卻不是現在；我望見他，卻不是近處；必有一星從雅各而出，必有一杖從以色列興起；他必打碎摩押的額角，粉碎一切舍特人的頭頂。他必得以東作產業，又得仇敵之地西珥作產業；只有以色列人成為強壯。

以撒回答以掃，說：“我已經立他作你的主人，又把他所有的兄弟給了他作僕人，並且把五穀和美酒供給他了。我兒啊，我還可以為你作甚麼呢？”以掃問他的父親：“我父啊，你只有一個祝福嗎？我父啊，求你也給我祝福。”以掃就放聲大哭。他父親以撒回答他，說：“你住的地方必遠離地上的沃土，遠離天上的甘露。你必依靠刀劍生活，你必服事你的弟弟；到你自由的時候，你必從你的頸項上掙脫他的軛。”

於是大衛在大馬士革的亞蘭地駐軍。這樣亞蘭人就臣服大衛，給他進貢。大衛無論到甚麼地方去，耶和華都使他得勝。

那時，以東沒有王，由總督統治。

看哪！保護以色列的，必不打盹，也不睡覺。保護你的是耶和華，耶和華在你的右邊蔭庇你。白天太陽必不傷你，夜裡月亮必不害你。耶和華要保護你脫離一切災禍，他要保護你的性命。你出你入，耶和華要保護你，從現在直到永遠。

摩押是我的洗腳盆；我要向以東拋鞋，我要因戰勝非利士歡呼。”誰能帶我進堅固城？誰能領我到以東地去呢？

大衛在以東設立駐防營，所有以東人就都臣服大衛。大衛無論到甚麼地方去，耶和華都使他得勝。
