亞捫族見亞蘭人潰而奔、則亦遁逃、避亞庇篩、入於邑中。約押不攻亞捫族、而歸耶路撒冷。

又擊摩押、使其人伏地、以繩量度、區之為三、死亡者二、生存者一、由是摩押人服役於大闢、而進貢焉。

大闢王取器、與以東、摩押、亞捫、非利士、亞馬力諸國所進之金銀、俱獻耶和華。○

曰、如亞蘭人強於我、爾必助我、如亞捫族強於爾、我必助爾。

約押攻亞捫族之喇巴、將取京都、遣使至大闢曰、我攻喇巴、絕其邑中水道。今爾可集餘民、建營攻擊、以陷其城、恐我獲勝、功歸於我。大闢集民往喇巴、攻城拔之。獲敵王之冕、重千五百兩、鑄以兼金、飾以寶石、人置於大闢首。邑中貨財、獲之甚多。驅民出邑、或解以鋸、或擊以打禾之鐵具、或傷以斧斤、或使經陶瓦之所。大闢待亞捫族諸城俱若此、然後率眾凱旋、至耶路撒冷。

非利士人聞大闢為膏、為以色列王、則前來攻擊、大闢知之、據其險要。非利士人至、遍於哩乏音谷、大闢問耶和華曰、非利士人我當往攻之乎、爾其以彼付我手乎。耶和華曰、往哉、我必付於爾手。大闢至巴勒比哩心、擊敵曰、耶和華破敵於我前、若水決而分流、故名其地曰、巴勒比哩心。敵遣其偶像、大闢與臣僕取之。非利士人復至、遍於哩乏音谷。大闢詢耶和華、耶和華曰、爾勿往前、宜襲其後、在桑林相對之所。如聞步履之聲、出於桑杪、則當速往、蓋耶和華已先爾而行、擊非利士人軍旅、大闢遵耶和華命、擊非利士人、自基巴至伽息。

亦奪敵之牛羊、驅於群畜前、曰、此大闢所得也。

大闢與其僕從、侵基述人、其色人、亞馬力人、昔此族歷居斯土、凡欲往書耳埃及者、必由是道。
