I have never lived in a house, from the day I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until this very day. I have always moved from one place to another with a tent and a Tabernacle as my dwelling.

I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling.

Now that the land was under Israelite control, the entire community of Israel gathered at Shiloh and set up the Tabernacle.

Moses erected the Tabernacle by setting down its bases, inserting the frames, attaching the crossbars, and setting up the posts.Then he spread the coverings over the Tabernacle framework and put on the protective layers, just as the Lord had commanded him.

“ If in spite of all this you still refuse to listen and still remain hostile toward me,then I will give full vent to my hostility. I myself will punish you seven times over for your sins.

The Lord replied,“ I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest— everything will be fine for you.”Then Moses said,“ If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.

“ And if you fail to learn the lesson and continue your hostility toward me,then I myself will be hostile toward you. I will personally strike you with calamity seven times over for your sins.

“ Write this letter to the angel of the church in Ephesus. This is the message from the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand, the one who walks among the seven gold lampstands:

The camp must be holy, for the Lord your God moves around in your camp to protect you and to defeat your enemies. He must not see any shameful thing among you, or he will turn away from you.

I have never lived in a house, from the day I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until this very day. My home has always been a tent, moving from one place to another in a Tabernacle.Yet no matter where I have gone with the Israelites, I have never once complained to Israel’s leaders, the shepherds of my people. I have never asked them,“ Why haven’t you built me a beautiful cedar house?”’

Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle.Moses could no longer enter the Tabernacle because the cloud had settled down over it, and the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle.Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it.But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted.The cloud of the Lord hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.

“ Our ancestors carried the Tabernacle with them through the wilderness. It was constructed according to the plan God had shown to Moses.

And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:“ I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

They marched for three days after leaving the mountain of the Lord, with the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant moving ahead of them to show them where to stop and rest.As they moved on each day, the cloud of the Lord hovered over them.And whenever the Ark set out, Moses would shout,“ Arise, O Lord, and let your enemies be scattered! Let them flee before you!”And when the Ark was set down, he would say,“ Return, O Lord, to the countless thousands of Israel!”
