I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.

神曾對哪一個天使說過：「你是我的兒子；我今日生了你」？又說過：「我要作他的父；他要作我的子」呢？

耶和華對我說：『你兒子所羅門必建造我的殿和院宇，因為我揀選他作我的子，我也必作他的父。

凡我所疼愛的，我就責備管教。所以，你要發熱心，也要悔改。

我們受審判的時候，就是被主管教，這樣就免得和世人一同被定罪。

我要作他的父，他要作我的子；我必不使我的慈愛離開他，像離開在你以前的那位一樣。

我尋得我的僕人大衛，用我的聖膏膏他。我的手必使他堅立，我的膀臂也必堅固他。仇敵必不勒索他，兇惡之子也不苦害他。我要在他面前打碎他的敵人，擊殺那些恨他的人。我的信實和我的慈愛要與他同在；因我的名，他的角必被高舉。我要使他的手伸到海上，右手伸到河上。他要稱呼我說：『你是我的父，是我的神，是拯救我的磐石。』我也要立他為長子，為世上最高的君王。我要為他存留我的慈愛，直到永遠，我與他所立的約必堅定不移。我也要使他的後裔存到永遠，使他的寶座如天之久。「倘若他的子孫離棄我的律法，不照我的典章行，背棄我的律例，不遵守我的誡命，我就要用杖責罰他們的過犯，用鞭責罰他們的罪孽。只是我不將我的慈愛全然收回，也不叫我的信實廢除。我必不毀損我的約，也不改變我口中所出的話。我僅此一次指着自己的神聖起誓，我絕不向大衛說謊！他的後裔要存到永遠，他的寶座在我面前如太陽，又如月亮永遠堅立；天上的見證是確實的。」（細拉）

你心裏要知道，耶和華－你的神管教你，像人管教兒女一樣。

因我與你同在，要拯救你，也要將那些國滅絕淨盡，就是我趕你去的那些國；卻不將你滅絕淨盡，倒要從寬懲治你，但絕不能不罰你。這是耶和華說的。

你們又忘了神勸你們如同勸兒女的那些話，說：「我兒啊，不可輕看主的管教，被他責備的時候不可灰心；因為主所愛的，他必管教，又鞭打他所接納的每一個孩子。」為了受管教，你們要忍受。神待你們如同待兒女。哪有兒女不被父親管教的呢？管教原是眾兒女共同所領受的；你們若不受管教，就是私生子，不是兒女了。再者，我們曾有肉身之父管教我們，我們尚且敬重他，何況靈性之父，我們豈不更當順服他而得生命嗎？肉身之父都是短時間隨己意管教我們，惟有靈性之父管教我們是要我們得益處，使我們在他的聖潔上有份。凡管教的事，當時不覺得快樂，反覺得痛苦；後來卻為那經過鍛鍊的人結出平安的果子，就是義的果子。

「看哪，神所懲治的人是有福的！所以你不可輕看全能者的管教。

這時，天上有聲音說：「這是我的愛子，我所喜愛的。」

耶和華啊，你所管教、用律法教導的人有福了！你使他在遭難的日子仍得平安，直到為惡人挖好了坑。

我兒啊，不可輕看耶和華的管教，也不可厭煩他的責備，因為耶和華所愛的，他必責備，正如父親責備所喜愛的兒子。
