When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.

Some day your life will come to an end. You will join the members of your family who have already died. Then I will make one of your own sons the next king after you. And I will make his kingdom secure.

蓋大衛在世時、遵天主旨而盡其職、其後乃逝、逝原文作寢歸於列祖而朽壞、

其權增益、平康無盡、必坐於大衛之位而治其國、秉公行義、使其國保定鞏固、自今直至永世、萬有之主必由熱中而行此、○

不然、則我主我王與列祖同寢之後、我與我子所羅門必視為罪人矣、

當是時耶西根所生者、必立為萬民之纛、異邦之族咸歸之、其所在將為有榮、

使其後裔世世長存、使其國位與天同久、

寢於地之塵埃者、多有復醒、其中有得永生者、有永受羞辱者、

論基督爾意云何、為誰之裔乎、對曰、大衛之裔、曰、然則大衛感於聖神、何以稱基督為主、大衛有言曰、主謂我主云、坐我右、俟我使爾之敵為爾足凳云、

主諭之曰、此非爾嗣、惟自爾出者、乃為爾嗣、

自耶西之幹將萌一條、自其根將生一枝、主之神必賦賦或作感之、使有智慧明哲、有謀略才能、有知識、有敬畏主之心、以敬畏主為悅、行審鞫不待目見、行判斷不待耳聞、

我今以奧妙示爾、我儕不盡死、而皆必變化、

我儕若信耶穌死而復活、亦當信天主將使信信或作因耶穌而死者、與耶穌同來、天主將使信耶穌而死者與耶穌同來或作天主將因耶穌已死之人與之同來
