The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David,“ You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought,“ David cannot get in here.”

David then led his men to Jerusalem to fight against the Jebusites, the original inhabitants of the land who were living there. The Jebusites taunted David, saying,“ You’ll never get in here! Even the blind and lame could keep you out!” For the Jebusites thought they were safe.

犹大人攻打耶路撒冷，把城占领，用刀击杀了城中的居民，又放火烧城。

便雅悯人没有赶走住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人，所以耶布斯人与便雅悯人一同住在耶路撒冷，直到今日。

洗拉、以利弗、耶布斯（耶布斯就是耶路撒冷）、基比亚、基列，共十四座城，还有属于这些城的村庄。这就是便雅悯人按着家族所得的产业。

撒冷王麦基洗德也带着饼和酒出来；他是至高神的祭司。

即使你们击败了那攻打你们的迦勒底全军，他们中间只剩下一些受重伤的人，他们也必各从自己的帐棚里起来，放火烧毁这城。’”

那人不愿再住一夜，就带着自己的妾和两头备好了的驴，起来走了，来到耶布斯对面；耶布斯就是耶路撒冷。他们走近耶布斯的时候，日头快要落了；仆人对主人说：“来，让我们转到这耶布斯人的城去，好在那里住宿。”主人对他说：“我们不可转到这座不是以色列人居住的外族人的城里去，我们过到基比亚去吧。”

因此，耶路撒冷王亚多尼．洗德派人到希伯仑王何咸、耶末王毗兰、拉吉王雅非亚和伊矶伦王底璧那里去，对他们说：

这麦基洗德就是撒冷王，又是至高神的祭司。亚伯拉罕杀败众王回来的时候，麦基洗德迎接他，并且给他祝福。

大卫和以色列众人来到耶路撒冷，耶路撒冷就是耶布斯。那时，当地的居民耶布斯人住在那里。耶布斯的居民对大卫说：“你不能进这里来。”可是大卫占领了锡安的堡垒，锡安就是大卫城。大卫说：“谁首先攻打耶布斯人，谁就必作首领和元帅。”洗鲁雅的儿子约押首先上去，就作了首领。大卫住在堡垒中，因此人把那堡垒称为大卫城。大卫又重建四周的城墙，从米罗起，以至城的周围；那城其余的部分由约押修建。大卫日渐强盛，因为万军之耶和华与他同在。
