Now do it! For the Lord promised David,‘ By my servant David I will rescue my people Israel from the hand of the Philistines and from the hand of all their enemies.’”

耶西就派人去把他帶來；他面色紅潤，雙目清秀，樣貌英俊。耶和華說：「起來膏抹他，就是這個人！」於是撒母耳拿起裝膏油的犄角，在他兄弟們當中膏抹了他。從那天以後，耶和華的靈就大大臨到大衛。撒母耳起身回拉瑪去了。

耶和華對撒母耳說：「你為掃羅悲慟要到什麼時候呢？我已經厭棄他作以色列的王。你把犄角裝滿膏油，去吧，我要派遣你到伯利恆人耶西那裡，因為我在他的兒子中選定了一個王。」

不過甚至是首領當中也有許多信耶穌的。但是為了法利賽人的緣故，他們不敢承認，免得被趕出會堂，這是因為他們喜愛人的榮耀，勝過喜愛神的榮耀。

那時你在異象中對你的忠信者宣告，說：「我幫助了一位勇士，高舉了那從民中所揀選的。我找到我的僕人大衛，用我聖潔的膏油膏抹了他。我的手必堅定地與他同在，我的膀臂也必使他穩固。仇敵不能毀滅他，不義之子也不能苦待他。我要在他面前打碎他的敵人，我要擊打那些恨他的人。

但如今，你的王權不會長久了，耶和華已經為自己找到一個合乎他心意的人，耶和華任命這人作他子民的領袖，因為你不遵守耶和華吩咐你的。」
