On that day Gad went to David and said to him,“ Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

主之使者諭迦得往告大衛、宜上耶布斯人阿珥楠之禾場、在彼為主建祭臺、大衛遂遵迦得奉主名所諭之言而上、其時阿珥楠適打麥、回首見天使、遂與其四子皆藏匿、大衛至阿珥楠所、阿珥楠見大衛、乃自禾場出、伏地以拜大衛、大衛謂阿珥楠曰、爾以此禾場予我、我足予爾以值、我於其上為主建祭臺、以止民間疫癘、阿珥楠謂大衛曰、王可取之、我主我王可循所欲而行、我以牛予王為火焚祭、予打麥之器為柴、予麥為素祭、我悉予之、大衛謂阿珥楠曰、不然、我欲購之、必足予以值、我不欲取爾之物獻於主、我不欲以不費而得者、獻為火焚祭、於是大衛權金六百舍客勒予阿珥楠以購其地、大衛在彼為主建祭臺、獻火焚祭與平安祭、且呼籲主、主應之、有火自天降於火焚祭臺上、主命天使、天使遂以刀入鞘、是時大衛見主應之於耶布斯人阿珥楠之禾場、遂在彼獻祭、昔摩西在曠野所造之會幕、及火焚祭之臺、斯時皆在基遍之崇邱、惟大衛不敢不敢或作不及往其祭臺前、以詢天主、因懼主之使者之刀、

往告大衛曰、主如是云、我有三災、必降其一於爾、爾其自擇之、
