王因为曾与扫罗的儿子约拿单指着耶和华起誓结盟，就爱惜扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设，不交出来，

王顾惜扫罗的孙子，约拿单的儿子米非波设，因为在大卫和扫罗的儿子约拿单之间，有指着耶和华的誓言。

王因為曾與掃羅的兒子約拿單指着耶和華起誓結盟，就愛惜掃羅的孫子、約拿單的兒子米非波設，不交出來，

王顧惜掃羅的孫子、約拿單的兒子米非波設，因為大衛和掃羅的兒子約拿單在耶和華面前起過誓。

The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul.

The king spared Mephibosheth. He was the son of Jonathan and the grandson of Saul. David had made a promise in front of the Lord. He had promised to be kind to Jonathan and the family line of his father Saul.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

The king spared Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth, who was Saul’s grandson, because of the oath David and Jonathan had sworn before the Lord.

就是我死后，耶和华从地上剪除你仇敌的时候，你也永不可向我家绝了恩惠。”

于是二人在耶和华面前立约。大卫仍住在树林里，约拿单回家去了。

求你施恩与仆人，因你在耶和华面前曾与仆人结盟。我若有罪，不如你自己杀我，何必将我交给你父亲呢？”

约拿单爱大卫如同爱自己的性命，就与他结盟。

扫罗的儿子约拿单有一个儿子名叫米非波设，是瘸腿的。扫罗和约拿单死亡的消息从耶斯列传到的时候，他才五岁。他乳母抱着他逃跑；因为跑得太急，孩子掉在地上，腿就瘸了。

约拿单对大卫说：“我们二人曾指着耶和华的名起誓说：‘愿耶和华在你我中间，并你我后裔中间为证，直到永远。’如今你平平安安地去吧！”大卫就起身走了；约拿单也回城里去了。

你和你的众子、仆人要为你主人的儿子米非波设耕种田地，把所产的拿来供他食用；他却要常与我同席吃饭。”洗巴有十五个儿子，二十个仆人。

约拿单因爱大卫如同爱自己的性命，就使他再起誓。

王对洗巴说：“凡属米非波设的都归你了。”洗巴说：“我叩拜我主我王，愿我在你眼前蒙恩。”

他来到耶路撒冷迎接王的时候，王问他说：“米非波设，你为什么没有与我同去呢？”

大卫说：“你不要惧怕，我必因你父亲约拿单的缘故施恩与你，将你祖父扫罗的一切田地都归还你；你也可以常与我同席吃饭。”
