我年老時，求你不要丟棄我；我體力衰微時，求你不要離棄我。

耶和華照祂的應許，讓我又活了四十五年，這些日子都是跟以色列人在曠野一起度過的。看！我現在已經八十五歲了，仍像當年摩西派我出去時那樣身強力壯，跟當年一樣能征善戰。

守衛家園的手腳顫抖，強壯的身軀變得彎腰駝背；牙齒稀少，無法咀嚼；視力衰退，看不清楚；

非利士人聽說大衛已被膏立為以色列王，就全軍出動，要搜尋大衛。大衛得到消息便退到堅城裡。

後來非利士人又捲土重來，散佈在利乏音谷。

大衛遵命而行，打敗非利士人，由迦巴一直殺到基色。

難道你不知道？難道你沒有聽見過？永恆的上帝耶和華——創造地極的主宰不會疲乏也不會困倦，祂的智慧深不可測。祂賜疲乏的人能力，給軟弱的人力量。即使青年也會疲乏困倦，強壯的人也會踉蹌跌倒；

儘管我身心俱衰，上帝永遠是我心中的力量，永遠屬於我。

這事以後，以色列人又在基色與非利士人交戰。戶沙人西比該殺死一個叫細派的巨人後裔，非利士人被征服。

上帝啊，就是我年老髮白的時候，求你也不要丟棄我，好讓我把你的大能告訴下一代，世代相傳。

耶和華說：「智者不要誇耀自己的智慧，勇士不要誇耀自己的力量，富人不要誇耀自己的財富。若有人誇耀，就讓他誇耀自己認識我是耶和華，知道我喜歡在地上憑慈愛、公平和正義行事。這是耶和華說的。」

因為「芸芸眾生盡如草，榮華不過草上花；草必枯乾花必殘，唯有主道永長存。」這道就是傳給你們的福音。
