大衛王到了巴戶琳，見有一個人出來，是掃羅族基拉的兒子，名叫示每。他一面走一面咒罵，又拿石頭砍大衛王和王的臣僕；眾民和勇士都在王的左右。示每咒罵說：「你這流人血的壞人哪，去吧去吧！你流掃羅全家的血，接續他作王；耶和華把這罪歸在你身上，將這國交給你兒子押沙龍。現在你自取其禍，因為你是流人血的人。」洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩對王說：「這死狗豈可咒罵我主我王呢？求你容我過去，割下他的頭來。」王說：「洗魯雅的兒子，我與你們有何關涉呢？他咒罵是因耶和華吩咐他說：『你要咒罵大衛。』如此，誰敢說你為甚麼這樣行呢？」大衛又對亞比篩和眾臣僕說：「我親生的兒子尚且尋索我的性命，何況這便雅憫人呢？由他咒罵吧！因為這是耶和華吩咐他的。或者耶和華見我遭難，為我今日被這人咒罵，就施恩與我。」於是大衛和跟隨他的人往前行走。示每在大衛對面山坡，一面行走一面咒罵，又拿石頭砍他，拿土揚他。

你同告你的對頭還在路上，就趕緊與他和息，恐怕他把你送給審判官，審判官交付衙役，你就下在監裏了。

王差遣人將示每召來，對他說：「你要在耶路撒冷建造房屋居住，不可出來往別處去。你當確實地知道，你何日出來過汲淪溪，何日必死！你的罪必歸到自己的頭上。」示每對王說：「這話甚好！我主我王怎樣說，僕人必怎樣行。」於是示每多日住在耶路撒冷。過了三年，示每的兩個僕人逃到迦特王瑪迦的兒子亞吉那裏去。有人告訴示每說：「你的僕人在迦特。」示每起來，備上驢，往迦特到亞吉那裏去找他的僕人，就從迦特帶他僕人回來。有人告訴所羅門說：「示每出耶路撒冷往迦特去，回來了。」王就差遣人將示每召了來，對他說：「我豈不是叫你指着耶和華起誓，並且警戒你說『你當確實地知道，你哪日出來往別處去，那日必死』嗎？你也對我說：『這話甚好，我必聽從。』現在你為何不遵守你指着耶和華起的誓和我所吩咐你的命令呢？」王又對示每說：「你向我父親大衛所行的一切惡事，你自己心裏也知道，所以耶和華必使你的罪惡歸到自己的頭上；惟有所羅門王必得福，並且大衛的國位必在耶和華面前堅定，直到永遠。」於是王吩咐耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，他就去殺死示每。這樣，便堅定了所羅門的國位。

不要容你的眼睛睡覺；不要容你的眼皮打盹。要救自己，如鹿脫離獵戶的手，如鳥脫離捕鳥人的手。

撒但回答耶和華說：「人以皮代皮，情願捨去一切所有的，保全性命。
