The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said:“ O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you— O Absalom, my son, my son!”

The king was very upset. He went up to the room over the entrance of the gate and wept. As he went, he said,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! I wish I had died instead of you. Absalom! My son, my son!”

And the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said,“ O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!”

The king was overcome with emotion. He went up to the room over the gateway and burst into tears. And as he went, he cried,“ O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you! O Absalom, my son, my son.”

The king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber above the city gate and wept. As he walked, he cried,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

Then the king trembled and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And this is what he said as he walked:“ My son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

Then the king was deeply moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept. And as he went, he said thus:“ O my son Absalom— my son, my son Absalom— if only I had died in your place! O Absalom my son, my son!”

( 19: 1) The king then became very upset. He went up to the upper room over the gate and wept. As he went he said,“ My son, Absalom! My son, my son, Absalom! If only I could have died in your place! Absalom, my son, my son!”

The king was much moved, and went up to the room over the gate, and wept. As he went, he said,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! I wish I had died for you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

王蒙着臉，大聲哭號說：「我兒押沙龍啊！押沙龍，我兒，我兒啊！」

所羅門的箴言：智慧之子使父親喜樂；愚昧之子使母親擔憂。

愚昧的兒子使父親愁煩，使那生他的母親憂苦。

現在，求你赦免他們的罪；不然，就把我從你所寫的冊上除名。」

父親怎樣憐憫他的兒女，耶和華也怎樣憐憫敬畏他的人！

現在刀劍必永不離開你的家，因你藐視我，娶了赫人烏利亞的妻子為妻。』耶和華如此說：『看哪，我必從你家中興起災禍攻擊你；我必在你眼前把你的妃嬪賜給你身邊的人，他要在光天化日下與你的妃嬪同寢。你在暗中做那事，我卻要在以色列眾人面前，在日光之下做這事。』」大衛對拿單說：「我得罪耶和華了！」拿單說：「耶和華已經除去你的罪，你必不至於死。只是在這事上，你大大藐視耶和華，因此，你生的孩子必定要死。」拿單就回家去了。耶和華擊打烏利亞的妻子為大衛生的孩子，他就得了重病。大衛為這孩子懇求上帝。大衛刻苦禁食，到裏面去，躺在地上過夜。他家中的老臣來到他旁邊，要把他從地上扶起來，他卻不肯，也不同他們吃飯。到第七日，孩子死了。大衛的臣僕不敢告訴他孩子死了，因他們說：「看哪，孩子還活着的時候，我們勸他，他尚且不聽我們的話，我們怎麼能告訴他孩子死了，讓他做出不好的事呢？」大衛見臣僕彼此低聲說話，就知道孩子死了。他問臣僕說：「孩子死了嗎？」他們說：「死了。」大衛就從地上起來，沐浴，抹膏，換了衣服，進耶和華的殿敬拜。然後他回宮，吩咐人為他擺飯，他就吃了。臣僕對他說：「你所做的是甚麼事呢？孩子活着的時候，你為他禁食哭泣；孩子死了，你卻起來吃飯。」大衛說：「孩子還活着，我禁食哭泣，因為我想，或許耶和華憐憫我，會讓孩子活下來。現在孩子死了，我何必禁食呢？我能使他回來嗎？我必往他那裏去，他卻不能回到我這裏來。」

為我弟兄，我骨肉之親，就是自己被詛咒，與基督分離，我也願意。

以利亞與我們是同樣性情的人，他懇切地祈求不要下雨，地上就三年六個月沒有下雨。
