As King David approached Bahurim, a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei son of Gera, and he cursed as he came out.

King David approached Bahurim. As he did, a man came out toward him. The man was from the same family group that Saul was from. His name was Shimei. He was the son of Gera. As he came out of the town, he cursed David.

When King David came to Bahurim, there came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera, and as he came he cursed continually.

As King David came to Bahurim, a man came out of the village cursing them. It was Shimei son of Gera, from the same clan as Saul’s family.

When King David got to Bahurim, a man belonging to the family of the house of Saul was just coming out. His name was Shimei son of Gera, and he was yelling curses as he approached.

巴戶琳的便雅憫人基拉的兒子示每，急忙與猶大人一同下去迎接大衛王。有一千個便雅憫人與他一起，還有掃羅家的僕人洗巴帶著十五個兒子、二十個僕人。他們在王之前趕到了約旦河，然後擺渡過河，接王的家人過來，做王眼中看為好的事。王過約旦河的時候，基拉的兒子示每俯伏在王面前，對王說：「求我主不要計算我的罪孽；我主我王離開耶路撒冷的那天，僕人行事扭曲，求王不要記念、不要放在心上。因為你的僕人知道自己實在犯了罪，看哪，我今天是約瑟全家第一個下來迎接我主我王的。」洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩回應說：「示每竟然咒罵耶和華的受膏者，難道不應該為此被處死嗎？」大衛說：「洗魯雅的兒子們，我與你們有什麼關係呢？難道今天你們要與我作對嗎？今天在以色列中怎麼可以處死人呢？難道我不知道今天我是以色列的王嗎？」然後王對示每說：「你不會死！」王又向他起了誓。

他們必經過這地，遭困苦，受飢餓。他們飢餓的時候就發怒，仰面朝天，詛咒自己的君王和自己的神；

任憑他們詛咒，你卻要祝福；他們起來就蒙羞，你的僕人卻要歡喜。

王和所有隨同他的人走得很疲乏，就在那裡休息。

你不可詛咒君王，就是在意念中也不可；你不可詛咒財主，就是在臥室裡也不可；因為天空的飛鳥會揚其聲，有翅膀的會傳其言。

就像麻雀在翻飛，燕子在飛翔，無故的詛咒也不會降下。

因為他從不記得施慈愛，卻追逼困苦人、貧窮人、心裡哀痛的人，要置他們於死地。他喜愛詛咒人，詛咒就臨到他；他不喜歡祝福人，祝福就遠離他。他把詛咒當作衣袍穿上，所以詛咒像水那樣進到他裡面，像油那樣進到他的骨頭裡。願詛咒如同他披戴在身上的衣服，又如他常常束上的腰帶。

因為他們追逼你所擊打的人，議論你所擊傷之人的痛苦。

「當人們因我的緣故責罵你們、逼迫你們、用各種捏造出來的惡事毀謗你們的時候，你們就是蒙福的。你們當歡喜，當快樂，因為你們在天上的報償是大的。要知道，那些人也這樣逼迫了在你們以前的先知們。
