押沙龙对户筛说：“你这样做是忠诚对待你的朋友吗？为什么不与你的朋友同去呢？”

押沙龙问户筛说：“这就是你对朋友的忠诚吗？你为什么不跟你的朋友去呢？”

押沙龙问户筛：“你就以这样的‘慈爱’待你的朋友吗？你为什么没有与你的朋友一同走呢？”

押沙龍問戶篩說：「這是你恩待朋友嗎？為甚麼不與你的朋友同去呢？」

押沙龍對戶篩說：「你這樣做是忠誠對待你的朋友嗎？為甚麼不與你的朋友同去呢？」

押沙龍問戶篩說：「這就是你對朋友的忠誠嗎？你為什麼不跟你的朋友去呢？」

押沙龍問戶篩：“你就以這樣的‘慈愛’待你的朋友嗎？你為甚麼沒有與你的朋友一同走呢？”

押沙龍問戶篩說：『你對你朋友的忠愛就是這樣麼？你為甚麼不跟你朋友一同去呢？

押沙龍問戶篩：「這是你對朋友的忠誠嗎？你為什麼沒有與你的朋友一起離開呢？」

押沙龍曰、爾愛友之情如是乎、何不與友偕行乎、

押沙龍曰、奚不與友偕、爾何不敦友誼、

押沙龍謂戶篩曰、此爾待友之惠乎、何不與爾友偕行、

Absalom said to Hushai,“ So this is the love you show your friend? If he’s your friend, why didn’t you go with him?”

Absalom said to Hushai,“ So this is the way you show love to your friend? If he’s your friend, why didn’t you go with him?”

And Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

“ Is this the way you treat your friend David?” Absalom asked him.“ Why aren’t you with him?”

“ Is this your loyalty to your friend?” Absalom asked Hushai.“ Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

But Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

So Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

And Absalom said to Hushai,[ Is] this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

Absalom said to Hushai,“ Do you call this loyalty to your friend? Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your kindness to your friend? Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

When he came from Jerusalem to meet the king, the king asked him,“ Mephibosheth, why didn’t you come with me?”

A man with many friends may be harmed, but there is a friend who stays closer than a brother.

When David came to the summit where he used to worship God, Hushai the Archite was there to meet him with his robe torn and dust on his head.David said to him,“ If you go away with me, you’ll be a burden to me,but if you return to the city and tell Absalom,‘ I will be your servant, my king! Previously, I was your father’s servant, but now I will be your servant,’ then you can counteract Ahithophel’s counsel for me.Won’t Zadok and Abiathar the priests be there with you? Report everything you hear from the king’s palace to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.Take note: their two sons, Zadok’s son Ahimaaz and Abiathar’s son Jonathan, are there with them. Send me everything you hear through them.”So Hushai, David’s personal adviser, entered Jerusalem just as Absalom was entering the city.

Is this how you repay the Lord, you foolish and senseless people? Isn’t He your Father and Creator? Didn’t He make you and sustain you?

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a difficult time.
