弟兄要出賣弟兄，父親要出賣兒女，甚至把他們置於死地；兒女要悖逆父母，害死他們。

亞希多弗又對押沙龍說：“求你准我挑選一萬二千人，今晚我要動身去追趕大衛，趁他疲乏手軟的時候，忽然追上他，使他驚惶失措，與他在一起的人就必逃跑；我只要單單擊殺王一人，使眾人都來歸你。好像新娘歸回丈夫那裡一樣。你所尋索的不過是一個人的性命，眾人會平安無事（《馬索拉文本》本句意思不明確，現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯）。眾人就都歸你了，眾人也可以平安無事。”押沙龍和以色列的眾長老都看這事為美。

一日，他正在他的神亞斯洛的廟中叩拜的時候，亞得米勒和沙利色用刀刺殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。

因此，我也把不好的律例和不能藉以存活的典章賜給他們；

現在你們不要因為把我賣到這裡來，而自憂自責。這原是神差派我在你們以先來這裡，為要保全性命。

王對拿單先知說：“你看！我自己住在香柏木的宮裡，耶和華的約櫃卻停在帳幕內。”

如果有先知被欺騙說一句話，是我耶和華任那先知受欺騙的；我必伸手攻擊他，把他從我子民以色列中除滅。

耶和華就差派一位使者，進入亞述王的軍營中，把所有英勇的戰士、官長和將帥，盡都消滅了。亞述王滿面羞愧返回本國去了。他進入自己的神廟的時候，他親生的兒子在那裡用刀把他殺了。

亞述啊！我怒氣的棍子，有禍了。他們手中拿著我忿怒的杖。我要差派他去攻擊一個不敬虔的國，吩咐他去攻擊我惱怒的子民，擄去掠物，搶奪擄物，把他們踐踏，像街上的泥土一樣。但亞述並沒有這樣想過，他心裡也沒有這樣打算；他心裡倒想毀滅、剪除多國。
