約押便到基述把押沙龍接回耶路撒冷。

你們是在自欺，因為原是你們請我去向我們的上帝耶和華祈求，讓我毫不隱瞞地把祂的話告訴你們，你們也答應遵行。

押沙龍答道：「我派人請你來，希望你替我去問王，『我為什麼要從基述回來呢？倒不如仍然留在那裡。』現在我要見王，如果我有什麼罪過，就讓他殺了我吧！」

你們說：「我們已經和死亡立約，與陰間結盟。災難席捲而來的時候，我們會安然無恙，因為我們以謊言為庇護所，以詭詐為藏身處。」

上帝啊，我要恪守向你發的誓言，獻上感恩祭。
