At the end of four years, Absalom said to the king,“ Let me go to Hebron and fulfill a vow I made to the Lord.

押沙龍來到王那裏，說：「看哪，有人正為你的僕人剪羊毛，請王和王的臣僕與你的僕人同去。」王對押沙龍說：「不，我兒，我們不必都去，免得成了你的負擔。」押沙龍再三請王，王仍是不肯去，只為他祝福。押沙龍說：「王若不去，請讓我哥哥暗嫩與我們同去。」王對他說：「為何要他與你同去呢？」押沙龍再三求王，王就派暗嫩和王所有的兒子與他同去。

撒母耳就用角裏的膏油，在他的兄長中膏了他。從這日起，耶和華的靈就大大感動大衛。撒母耳起身回拉瑪去了。

耶和華對撒母耳說：「我既厭棄掃羅作以色列的王，你為他悲傷要到幾時呢？你將膏油盛滿了角；來，我差遣你到伯利恆人耶西那裏去，因為我在他兒子中已看中了一個為我作王的。」撒母耳說：「我怎麼能去呢？掃羅一聽見，就會殺我。」耶和華說：「你可以手裏牽一頭小母牛去，說：『我來是要向耶和華獻祭。』

押沙龍逃到基述去了，在那裏住了三年。

就派他們往伯利恆去，說：「你們去仔細尋訪那小孩子，找到了就來報信，我也好去拜他。」

「你們這假冒為善的文士和法利賽人有禍了！因為你們當着人的面把天國的門關了，自己不進去，要進去的人，你們也不容他們進去。

惡人獻的祭是可憎的，何況他存惡意來獻呢？
