Also, whenever anyone approached him to bow down before him, Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him and kiss him.

Sometimes people would approach Absalom and bow down to him. Then he would reach out his hand. He would take hold of them and kiss them.

And whenever a man came near to pay homage to him, he would put out his hand and take hold of him and kiss him.

When people tried to bow before him, Absalom wouldn’t let them. Instead, he took them by the hand and kissed them.

So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.

[ The words] of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war[ was] in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet[ were] they drawn swords.

When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for[ there are] seven abominations in his heart.

He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.He croucheth,[ and] humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
