爾僕約押為此、欲使事勢變遷、我主聰睿、如上帝之使、洞悉世事、○

此事實緣於爾臣約押、我主我王自具智慧、如上帝之使、天下事無不洞悉。

王之僕約押如是行、欲藉此以諫勸、我主之智慧、如天主使者之智慧、能知天下諸事、

Your servant Joab did this to change the present situation. My lord has wisdom like that of an angel of God— he knows everything that happens in the land.”

He did it to change the way things now are. You are as wise as an angel of God. You know everything that happens in the land.”

In order to change the course of things your servant Joab did this. But my lord has wisdom like the wisdom of the angel of God to know all things that are on the earth.”

He did it to place the matter before you in a different light. But you are as wise as an angel of God, and you understand everything that happens among us!”

Joab your servant has done this to address the issue indirectly, but my lord has wisdom like the wisdom of the angel of God, knowing everything on earth.”

婢女又想，我主我王的話必安慰我；因為我主我王能辨別是非，如同神的使者一樣。惟願耶和華－你的神與你同在！」

又在我主我王面前讒毀我。然而我主我王如同神的使者一般，你看怎樣好，就怎樣行吧！

虛謊的舌恨他所壓傷的人；諂媚的口敗壞人的事。

你曾進到海源，或在深淵的隱密處行走嗎？死亡的門曾向你顯露嗎？死蔭的門你曾見過嗎？地的廣大你能明透嗎？你若全知道，只管說吧！光明的居所從何而至？黑暗的本位在於何處？你能帶到本境，能看明其室之路嗎？你總知道，因為你早已生在世上，你日子的數目也多。你曾進入雪庫，或見過雹倉嗎？這雪雹乃是我為降災，並打仗和爭戰的日子所預備的。光亮從何路分開？東風從何路分散遍地？誰為雨水分道？誰為雷電開路？使雨降在無人之地、無人居住的曠野？使荒廢淒涼之地得以豐足，青草得以發生？雨有父嗎？露水珠是誰生的呢？冰出於誰的胎？天上的霜是誰生的呢？諸水堅硬如石頭；深淵之面凝結成冰。你能繫住昴星的結嗎？能解開參星的帶嗎？你能按時領出十二宮嗎？能引導北斗和隨它的眾星嗎？你知道天的定例嗎？能使地歸在天的權下嗎？你能向雲彩揚起聲來，使傾盆的雨遮蓋你嗎？你能發出閃電，叫它行去，使它對你說：我們在這裏？誰將智慧放在懷中？誰將聰明賜於心內？誰能用智慧數算雲彩呢？塵土聚集成團，土塊緊緊結連；那時，誰能傾倒天上的瓶呢？

大衛求問耶和華；耶和華說：「不要一直地上去，要轉到他們後頭，從桑林對面攻打他們。

諂媚鄰舍的，就是設網羅絆他的腳。

因為神知道，你們吃的日子眼睛就明亮了，你們便如神能知道善惡。」

我必不看人的情面，也不奉承人。我不曉得奉承；若奉承，造我的主必快快除滅我。

論到祭偶像之物，我們曉得我們都有知識。但知識是叫人自高自大，惟有愛心能造就人。若有人以為自己知道甚麼，按他所當知道的，他仍是不知道。
