人若死了，還能復生嗎？我要在勞苦的歲月中等待，直到我得釋放的日子來臨。

因為活著的人還知道自己終有一死，但死了的人什麼都不知道，再也得不到任何賞賜，他們被忘得一乾二淨。

使耶路撒冷周圍血流成河，屍體無人埋葬。

我們一生七十歲，強壯的可活八十歲，但人生最美好的時光也充滿勞苦和愁煩，生命轉瞬即逝，我們便如飛而去。

倘若不是故意殺人，而是上帝許可那人死在他手裡，他就可以逃往我指定的地方。

彼得說：「現在我深深地明白，上帝不偏待人。

樹木若被砍下，還有希望，它仍可重新萌芽，嫩枝生長不息。雖然樹根在土裡衰老，樹幹在地裡死去，但一有水氣，它就會像新栽的樹一樣發芽長枝。但人一死，就失去力量；人一嚥氣，就不知去向。湖水會枯竭，江河會乾涸，人躺下便不再起來，到諸天不復存在，他仍不會醒來，不會從長眠中被喚醒。

祂不偏袒王侯，也不輕貧重富，因為他們都是祂親手造的。

你們的上帝耶和華是萬神之神、萬主之主，是偉大、全能、可畏的上帝。祂不徇情面，不受賄賂；

「如果他們承認自己和祖先的罪，就是背叛我、與我作對的惡行——

大衛便對信使說：「你去告訴約押不要為這事難過，因為刀劍無情。讓他只管竭力攻陷城池。要這樣勉勵約押。」

因為人和獸的際遇並無分別，兩者都難逃一死，活著都靠一口氣。人並不比獸強，一切都是虛空。兩者都同歸一處，出於塵土，也歸於塵土。

他們派了自己的門徒跟希律黨人一同去問耶穌：「老師，我們知道你誠實無偽，按真理傳上帝的道，你不徇情面，不以貌取人。

既然你們稱呼那位按各人的行為公正無私地審判人的上帝為父，就應該存著敬畏的心過你們在世上寄居的日子。
