亦未惜先古之世、以洪水罰彼不虔敬之惡世、惟救傳義道之挪亞等八人、

古時人欲橫流、天主亦不惜使洪水氾濫、僅有宣揚道義之諾厄及同伴七人得濟。

if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;

God did not spare the world’s ungodly people long ago. He brought the flood on them. But Noah preached about the right way to live. God kept him safe. He also saved seven others.

if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

And God did not spare the ancient world— except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood.

and if he did not spare the ancient world, but did protect Noah, a herald of righteousness, along with seven others, when God brought a flood on an ungodly world,

and didn’t spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly;

By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. (niv)

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. (niv)

“ Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. (niv)

After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, (niv)

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them:“ See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy onesto judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” (niv)

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. (niv)

Will you keep to the old path that the wicked have trod?They were carried off before their time, their foundations washed away by a flood. (niv)

The Lord then said to Noah,“ Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate,and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth.And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground,male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month— on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings.Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark.The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth.The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water.They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.Every living thing that moved on land perished— birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days. (niv)

When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them,the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.Then the Lord said,“ My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”The Nephilim were on the earth in those days— and also afterward— when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.So the Lord said,“ I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created— and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground— for I regret that I have made them.”But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
