They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity— for“ people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

For just as you presented the parts of your body as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your body’s parts as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in relation to righteousness.Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death.But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.

For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.

Act as free people, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bond servants of God.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
