以自由為號召、而自身則為腐敗之奴隸。蓋為邪惡所克者、即成邪惡之奴矣。

They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity— for“ people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

耶穌說：“我實實在在告訴你們，凡犯罪的都是罪的奴隸。

難道你們不知道你們自願作奴僕去順從人，順從誰就作誰的奴僕，或作罪的奴僕以致於死，或作順從的奴僕以致於義嗎？感謝神，你們雖然作過罪的奴僕，現在卻從心裡順從了傳授給你們的教義的規範。你們既然從罪裡得了釋放，就作了義的奴僕。因為你們肉體的弱點，我就按一般人的話來說，你們從前怎樣把你們的肢體獻給不潔和不法作奴僕，以致於不法，現在也要照樣把你們的肢體獻給義作奴僕，以致於成聖。你們作罪的奴僕的時候，就不受義的約束。那麼，你們在現今以為羞恥的事上，當時得了甚麼呢？那些事的結局就是死。現在你們既然從罪裡得了釋放，作了神的奴僕，就有成聖的果子，那結局就是永生。

弟兄們，你們蒙召得了自由；只是不可把這自由當作放縱情慾的機會，總要憑著愛心互相服事。

你們是自由的人，但不要用自由來掩飾邪惡，總要像神的僕人。

基督釋放了我們，為了要使我們得自由。所以你們要站立得穩，不要再被奴役的軛控制。

論到那些先知，我的心在我裡面破碎，我全身的骨頭都發抖。因為耶和華的緣故，又因為他的聖言的緣故，我就像一個醉酒的人，像一個被酒灌醉的人。

我們從前也是無知、不順服、受了迷惑、被各種私慾和逸樂所奴役，生活在惡毒和嫉妒之中，是可憎可惡的，並且互相仇視。

以法蓮那些醉漢所戴的高傲冠冕，有禍了！它在肥美谷山頂上的榮美，有禍了！它必如將殘的花朵，滿了喝醉酒的人。

所以，不要容罪在你們必死的肉身上掌權，使你們順從肉身的私慾，也不要把你們的肢體獻給罪，作不義的用具；倒要像出死得生的人，把自己獻給神，並且把你們的肢體獻給神作義的用具。罪必不能轄制你們，因為你們不是在律法之下，而是在恩典之下。

他們雖然曾經被魔鬼擄去，隨從他的意思而行，或許也能醒悟過來，脫離魔鬼的陷阱。

如果他們因為認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督，可以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、受制伏，他們末了的景況，就比先前的更不好了。
