彼行該隱之途、以其貪利、故謬則從巴蘭、逆則效哥喇、烏能弗敗、

摩押王西撥子巴勒、遣使至比奪、於亞捫河濱、見庇耳子巴蘭、召之、曰、有民自埃及至此、周遍於地、與我比鄰、土壤相接、此民強悍、我非其敵、汝來詛之、使我得攻擊而獲勝、驅之出境、蓋我素知爾、祝人則人受福、詛人則人被禍。摩押、米田長老、攜卜筮之值、往見巴蘭、以巴勒之言告之。

噫、爾盈諸詭譎奸惡者、魔鬼子、義之敵、何紊亂主正道不已耶、

彼於白晝、樂宴樂、詭道謀食、在爾筵中、為瑕為垢、

我民當憶古昔摩押王巴勒謀害爾曹、庇耳子巴蘭與之黨同、自失亭至吉甲、耶和華之恩澤、爾其念之勿忘。

因昔爾出埃及、彼不以餅以水、迎饋其師、亦因以金賂庇耳子巴蘭、俾自米所波大米之比奪至、以咒詛爾故也。惟爾上帝耶和華愛爾、故不聽巴蘭、乃變詛為祝。

違法者譽惡、守法者敵惡。

彼從巴蘭之言、誘以色列族、逆耶和華、服役於比耳、故耶和華降災於會眾。

乃竟以不義之償購田、身仆腹裂腸流、

巴蘭告其臣曰、即使巴勒、以盈室之金銀饋我、亦不可踰越我上帝耶和華之命、或大或小、悉宜遵循。今日爾姑宿此、以俟耶和華更有所諭。是夜上帝臨格、諭巴蘭曰、如其人來招、汝姑偕往、然我所諭汝必遵循。巴蘭夙興備驢、偕摩押使臣往。

拔刃途側、驢見之、故不由其道、避諸田間、巴蘭策驢、使歸於道。

以法蓮族與偶像何涉、我垂念之、使之扶疏若松、賴我而結實、

我為爾祈禱、無時或忘、否則犯罪於耶和華。又必以善道真理指示於爾。

對曰、貽禍於以色列族、非我也、乃爾及爾父之家、違耶和華命、奉事巴力故耳。

因昔不以水以餅迎饋以色列族、乃賂巴蘭、俾來呪詛、惟我上帝變詛為祝。

耶和華使驢作人言、謂巴蘭曰、我無所獲罪於爾、爾乃策我者三、

故我必視其所行、降以重罰、不復矜宥、滅之無俾遺種。

曰、我緣萬有之上帝耶和華、熱中特甚、以色列族背爾約、毀爾壇、殺爾先知、獨余留焉、亦欲殲滅。
