“ If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,and the sign or the wonder comes true, of which he spoke to you, saying,‘ Let’s follow other gods( whom you have not known) and let’s serve them,’you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

For there also have to be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you.

And many false prophets will rise up and mislead many people.

For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires,

For you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the elementary principles of the world, rather than in accordance with Christ.

But whoever denies Me before people, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.

‘ I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have followed My word, and have not denied My name.

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

for false christs and false prophets will arise, and will provide signs and wonders, in order to mislead, if possible, the elect.

Take care that no one keeps defrauding you of your prize by delighting in humility and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind,

These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.

How much more severe punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self control, brutal, haters of good,treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.For among them are those who slip into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, worthless in regard to the faith.But they will not make further progress; for their foolishness will be obvious to all, just as was that also of Jannes and Jambres.

who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of dishonest gain.

If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He will also deny us;If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,who opposes and exalts himself above every so called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?And you know what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time.For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is removed.Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders,and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved.For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who have their minds on earthly things.

Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah the prophet,“ Listen now, Hananiah: the Lord has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie.Therefore, this is what the Lord says:‘ Behold, I am going to remove you from the face of the earth. What does straw have in common with grain?” declares the Lord.“ Is My word not like fire?” declares the Lord,“ and like a hammer which shatters a rock?Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the Lord,“ who steal My words from each other.Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the Lord,“ who use their tongues and declare,‘ The Lord declares!’Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the Lord,“ and reported them and led My people astray by their lies and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them nor command them, nor do they provide this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord.

Now then, send orders and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and four hundred prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”So Ahab sent orders among all the sons of Israel and brought the prophets together at Mount Carmel.Then Elijah approached all the people and said,“ How long are you going to struggle with the two choices? Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things to draw away the disciples after them.

Ephraim was a watchman with my God, a prophet; Yet the snare of a bird catcher is in all his ways, And there is only hostility in the house of his God.

Your prophets have seen for you Worthless and deceptive visions; And they have not exposed your wrongdoing So as to restore you from captivity, But they have seen for you worthless and misleading pronouncements.

His watchmen are blind, All of them know nothing. All of them are mute dogs unable to bark, Dreamers lying down, who love to slumber;And the dogs are greedy, they are never satisfied. And they are shepherds who have no understanding; They have all turned to their own way, Each one to his unjust gain, without exception.

Is this what you do to the Lord, You foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father who has purchased you? He has made you and established you.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us— for it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—

For false christs and false prophets will arise and will provide great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

Woe to you when all the people speak well of you; for their fathers used to treat the false prophets the same way.

They will have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel, so that you may know that I am the Lord God.It is definitely because they have misled My people by saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash;so tell those who plaster it over with whitewash, that it will fall. A flooding rain will come, and you, hailstones, will fall, and a violent wind will break out.Behold, when the wall has fallen, will you not be asked,‘ Where is the plaster with which you plastered it?’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ I will make a violent wind break out in My wrath. There will also be in My anger a flooding rain and hailstones to consume it in wrath.So I will tear down the wall which you plastered over with whitewash and hurl it down to the ground, so that its foundation is exposed; and when it falls, you will perish in its midst. And you will know that I am the Lord.So I will expend My wrath on the wall and on those who have plastered it over with whitewash; and I will say to you,‘ The wall is gone and those who plastered it are gone,along with the prophets of Israel who prophesy to Jerusalem, and who see a vision of peace for her when there is no peace,’ declares the Lord God.“ Now you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who are talking like prophets from their own imagination. Prophesy against themand say,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Woe to the women who sew magic bands on all wrists and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature to capture souls! Will you capture the souls of My people, but keep the souls of others alive for yourselves?

For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Do not let your prophets who are in your midst or your diviners deceive you, and do not listen to their interpretations of your dreams which you dream.For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them,’ declares the Lord.

For such people are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

that they were saying to you,“ In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.”

Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, saying,“ Is the Lord not in our midst? Catastrophe will not come upon us.”

And if anyone still prophesies, then his father and mother who gave birth to him will say to him,‘ You shall not live, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the Lord’; and his father and mother who gave birth to him shall pierce him through when he prophesies.Also it will come about on that day that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a hairy robe in order to deceive;

So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, about four hundred men, and said to them,“ Should I go to battle against Ramoth gilead or should I refrain?” And they said,“ Go up, for the Lord will hand it over to the king.”

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

So do not listen to the words of the prophets who talk to you, saying,‘ You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying a lie to you;for I have not sent them,” declares the Lord,“ but they are prophesying falsely in My name, so that I will drive you away and that you will perish, you and the prophets who prophesy to you.”

And He said,“ See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying,‘ I am He,’ and,‘ The time is near.’ Do not go after them.

You were bought for a price; do not become slaves of people.

For many will come in My name, saying,‘ I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many people.

And where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying,‘ The king of Babylon will not come against you or against this land’?
