约翰是一盏燃烧发光的灯，你们情愿在他的光里快乐一时。

那坐在黑暗中的民众看到了大光；那坐在死亡之地和死亡阴影中的人们，曙光为他们升起。”

因为诫命是灯，法则是光，出于管教的责备是生命的道路，

耶稣又对众人说：“我就是世界的光。跟从我的人，绝不会在黑暗里行走，却要得到生命的光。”

锡安哪，起来，发出亮光！因为你的光已经来到，耶和华的荣耀已经在你上面升起。看哪！黑暗遮盖大地，幽暗遮盖万民，但耶和华必在你上面升起，他的荣耀必显现在你身上。

就是要远避祭过偶像的食物，远避血和勒死的动物，远避淫乱。你们如果保守自己远离这些，就做得很好了。祝你们安康！”

这里的人比帖撒罗尼迦的人开明。他们满心乐意地接受这福音，天天查考经文，要看这些事是否如此。

那信神儿子的，就有这见证在他里面；那不信神的，就把神当做说谎者，因为他不相信神为自己的儿子所做的见证。

所以，不要与他们同伙。你们从前原是黑暗，但如今在主里就是光；你们要像属于光的儿女行走，

耶和华对假神说：“呈上你们的案件！”雅各的王说：“拿出你们的证据！”让它们拿出证据来，告诉我们将要发生的事吧！至于先前的事，告诉我们究竟是什么，好让我们用心思索得以明白事情的结局；或者直接告知我们即将来临的事，告诉我们后来的事，好让我们知道你们是神！你们或好或歹做一些事，让我们一同惊奇观看吧！

耶和华的律法纯全，使人灵魂苏醒；耶和华的法度信实，使无知的人有智慧；耶和华的训诫正直，使人心欢喜；耶和华的诫命纯洁，使人眼目明亮；对耶和华的敬畏是纯净的，存留到永远；耶和华的法规是真实的，全然公义；

不过，你们如果照着经上那条至尊的律法“要爱邻如己”完全实行，你们就做得很好了。
