Then take the flask and pour the oil on his head and declare,‘ This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.’ Then open the door and run; don’t delay!”

Then take the vial of oil, and pour it on his head, and say,‘ Yahweh says,“ I have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door, flee, and don’t wait.”

Then anoint Jehu grandson of Nimshi to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from the town of Abel meholah to replace you as my prophet.

After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream.“ Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said.“ Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

With my great strength and powerful arm I made the earth and all its people and every animal. I can give these things of mine to anyone I choose.Now I will give your countries to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who is my servant. I have put everything, even the wild animals, under his control.All the nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson until his time is up. Then many nations and great kings will conquer and rule over Babylon.

Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees.Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments.

But Samuel asked,“ How can I do that? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me.”“ Take a heifer with you,” the Lord replied,“ and say that you have come to make a sacrifice to the Lord.

Then he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head, anointing him and making him holy for his work.

“ About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. Anoint him to be the leader of my people, Israel. He will rescue them from the Philistines, for I have looked down on my people in mercy and have heard their cry.”

Then anoint him by pouring the anointing oil over his head.

For no one on earth— from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist.It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.

One night during the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had such disturbing dreams that he couldn’t sleep.

Your Majesty, the Most High God gave sovereignty, majesty, glory, and honor to your predecessor, Nebuchadnezzar.

All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him,‘ What do you mean by doing these things?’

“ Why don’t you talk to me?” Pilate demanded.“ Don’t you realize that I have the power to release you or crucify you?”Then Jesus said,“ You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”

But God had decided that this visit would be Ahaziah’s downfall. While he was there, Ahaziah went out with Joram to meet Jehu grandson of Nimshi, whom the Lord had appointed to destroy the dynasty of Ahab.

So Jesse sent for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes. And the Lord said,“ This is the one; anoint him.”So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

Hazael responded,“ How could a nobody like me ever accomplish such great things?” Elisha answered,“ The Lord has shown me that you are going to be the king of Aram.”

One day Samuel said to Saul,“ It was the Lord who told me to anoint you as king of his people, Israel. Now listen to this message from the Lord!

“ Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.

And Samuel told him,“ Although you may think little of yourself, are you not the leader of the tribes of Israel? The Lord has anointed you king of Israel.
