以利沙說：“你不可擊殺他們。你可以擊殺你自己用刀用弓擄回來的人嗎？你要在他們面前擺上食物和水，給他們吃喝，然後回到他們的主人那裡去。”

回答说：“不可击杀他们！就是你用刀用弓掳来的，岂可击杀他们吗？当在他们面前设摆饮食，使他们吃喝回到他们的主人那里。”

他说：“不可击杀！这些人岂是你用刀用弓掳来给你击杀的呢？当在他们面前摆设饮食给他们吃喝，让他们回到他们主人那里。”

以利沙答道：“不可杀他们。岂可杀从战场上抓来的俘虏呢？给他们吃的喝的，让他们回自己主人那里吧。”

“ Do not kill them,” he answered.“ Would you kill those you have captured with your own sword or bow? Set food and water before them so that they may eat and drink and then go back to their master.”

He answered,“ You shall not strike them down. Would you strike down those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master.”

“ Of course not!” Elisha replied.“ Do we kill prisoners of war? Give them food and drink and send them home again to their master.”

Elisha replied,“ Don’t kill them. Do you kill those you have captured with your sword or your bow? Set food and water in front of them so they can eat and drink and go to their master.”

But he answered,“ You shall not kill them. Would you kill those whom you have taken captive with your sword and your bow? Set bread and water before them, so that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.”

可是我告訴你們，當愛你們的仇敵，為迫害你們的祈禱，

如果你的仇敵餓了，就給他食物吃；如果渴了，就給他水喝，因為你這樣作，就是把炭火堆在他的頭上，耶和華必還報你。

因為我不是倚靠我的弓，我的刀劍也不能使我得勝。

“但我要憐恤猶大家，使他們靠耶和華他們的神得救。我要拯救他們，並不是靠弓、靠刀、靠戰爭，也不是靠戰馬、靠騎兵。”

我派了黃蜂飛在你們前面，把亞摩利人的兩個王從你們面前趕走，並不是用你的刀，也不是用你的弓。

以色列人從他們的兄弟中擄走婦孺共二十萬人；又從他們中間奪取了很多戰利品，帶回撒瑪利亞去。那裡有一位耶和華的先知名叫俄德，出來迎接回到撒瑪利亞來的軍隊，對他們說：“耶和華你們列祖的神因為惱怒猶大人，才把他們交在你們手裡，你們卻怒氣沖天，殺戮了他們。現在你們又想強迫猶大人和耶路撒冷人作你們的奴婢。難道你們自己就沒有得罪耶和華你們的神嗎？你們現在要聽我的話，把你們擄回來的兄弟釋放回去，因為耶和華的震怒已經臨到你們身上了。”於是以法蓮人的幾個首領，就是約哈難的兒子亞撒利雅、米實利末的兒子比利家、沙龍的兒子耶希西家和哈得萊的兒子亞瑪撒，起來阻擋從戰場回來的軍隊，對他們說：“你們不可把這些俘虜帶進來，因為我們已經得罪了耶和華，你們想增加我們的罪惡和過犯，我們的過犯實在嚴重，耶和華的震怒臨到以色列人身上了。”於是，軍隊把俘虜和戰利品都留在眾領袖和全體會眾的面前。上面提過的那些人就起來，領走那些俘虜，從戰利品中拿出衣服給所有赤身的穿著，給他們穿上鞋，給他們吃喝，又給他們抹油，又把所有疲弱的人放在驢子上，把他們送回棕樹城耶利哥他們的兄弟那裡，然後就回撒瑪利亞去了。

如果那城以和平的話回答你，給你開門，城裡所有的人都要給你作苦工，服事你。如果那城不肯與你言和，卻要與你作戰，你就要圍困那城。耶和華你的神把城交在你手裡的時候，你要用利刃殺盡城裡所有的男丁。只有婦人、小孩子、牲畜和城裡所有的一切，就是一切戰利品，你都可以據為己有，你的仇敵的戰利品，你都可以吃用，因為這是耶和華你的神賜給你的。離開你很遠的各城，不是屬於這些國民的城，你都要這樣對待他們。只是在耶和華你的神賜給你作產業的這些國民的城市裡，凡有氣息的，連一個你也不可讓他活著；
