Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord.

And that’s not all. Josiah got rid of those who got messages from people who had died. He got rid of those who talked to the spirits of people who had died. He got rid of the statues of family gods and the statues of other gods. He got rid of everything else the Lord hates that was in Judah and Jerusalem. He did it to carry out what the law required. That law was written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’ s temple.

Moreover, Josiah put away the mediums and the necromancers and the household gods and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple.

In addition, Josiah eradicated the mediums, the spiritists, household idols, images, and all the abhorrent things that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this in order to carry out the words of the law that were written in the book that the priest Hilkiah found in the LORD’s temple.

In this way he carried out the terms of the law recorded on the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the LORD’s temple.

“‘ Don’t turn to those who are mediums, nor to the wizards. Don’t seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God.

He made his son to pass through the fire, practiced sorcery, used enchantments, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits, and with wizards. He did much evil in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger.

But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

The man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

For the children of Israel shall live many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone, and without ephod or idols.

He walked in all the ways that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshiped them;

Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe,“ I have found the book of the law in Yahweh’s house.” Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said,“ Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hands of the workmen who have the oversight of Yahweh’s house.”Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.When the king had heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes.The king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,“ Go inquire of Yahweh for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is Yahweh’s wrath that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.”

The spirit of Egypt will fail within it. I will destroy its counsel. They will seek the idols, the charmers, those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards.

When they brought out the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house, Hilkiah the priest found the book of Yahweh’s law given by Moses.Hilkiah answered Shaphan the scribe,“ I have found the book of the law in Yahweh’s house.” So Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.Shaphan carried the book to the king, and moreover brought back word to the king, saying,“ All that was committed to your servants, they are doing.They have emptied out the money that was found in Yahweh’s house, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and into the hand of the workmen.”Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has delivered me a book.” Shaphan read from it to the king.When the king had heard the words of the law, he tore his clothes.

“ Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has also made Judah to sin with his idols;

Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

As we were going to prayer, a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.Following Paul and us, she cried out,“ These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us a way of salvation!”She was doing this for many days. But Paul, becoming greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit,“ I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” It came out that very hour.
