And that’s not all. Josiah got rid of those who got messages from people who had died. He got rid of those who talked to the spirits of people who had died. He got rid of the statues of family gods and the statues of other gods. He got rid of everything else the Lord hates that was in Judah and Jerusalem. He did it to carry out what the law required. That law was written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’ s temple.

Moreover, Josiah put away the mediums and the necromancers and the household gods and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple.

He did this in order to carry out the words of the law that were written in the book that the priest Hilkiah found in the LORD’s temple.

Moreover Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

巫覡勿問、術士勿從、免致受玷、我乃耶和華、爾之上帝也、

並使其子經火、用卜筮、行邪術、與憑鬼者及巫覡交、多行耶和華所惡、以激其怒、

時、拉班往剪羊毛、拉結竊其父之家神、

無論男女、凡為巫覡術士者、殺無赦、其罪歸之、當擊以石、

惟察夫純全之律、乃使人自由者、且恆於是、非聞而忘、乃遵而行者、斯人於其所為、必獲福矣、

米迦有神室、遂作聖衣與家神、區別一子、為其祭司、

埃及人心志衰頹、其謀為我所敗、必詢於偶像、與持呪者、巫覡及術士、

撒母耳既沒、以色列眾為之哀悼、葬於故邑拉瑪、掃羅曾於國中、逐憑鬼者及巫覡、非利士人咸集、往書念建營、掃羅集以色列眾、建營於基利波、掃羅見非利士之軍旅、則懼、中心戰慄、詢於耶和華、耶和華不以夢與烏陵先知答之、掃羅謂其僕曰、為我尋一女巫、我將就而問焉、僕曰、在隱多珥有女巫、

奉於耶和華室之金運出時、祭司希勒家得耶和華之律書、即摩西所傳者、希勒家謂繕寫沙番曰、我於耶和華室得律書、乃以書授之、沙番攜書詣王、復命曰、凡所命爾僕者、僕悉行之、且以耶和華室所得之金、傾而出之、付於督工與匠人之手、又告王曰、祭司希勒家授我一書、遂讀於王前、王聞法律之言、自裂其衣、

因猶大王瑪拿西行此可憎之事、較亞摩利人作惡尤甚、使猶大人因其偶像而陷於罪、
