Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord.

And that’s not all. Josiah got rid of those who got messages from people who had died. He got rid of those who talked to the spirits of people who had died. He got rid of the statues of family gods and the statues of other gods. He got rid of everything else the Lord hates that was in Judah and Jerusalem. He did it to carry out what the law required. That law was written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’ s temple.

Moreover, Josiah put away the mediums and the necromancers and the household gods and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple.

He did this in order to carry out the words of the law that were written in the book that the priest Hilkiah found in the LORD’s temple.

Moreover Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

城外有那些犬類、行邪術的、淫亂的、殺人的、拜偶像的，並一切喜好說謊言、編造虛謊的。

惟有詳細察看那全備、使人自由之律法的，並且時常如此，這人既不是聽了就忘，乃是實在行出來，就在他所行的事上必然得福。

這米迦有了神堂，又製造以弗得和家中的神像，分派他一個兒子作祭司。

以色列人也必多日獨居，無君王，無首領，無祭祀，無柱像，無以弗得，無家中的神像。

行他父親一切所行的，敬奉他父親所敬奉的偶像，

大祭司希勒家對書記沙番說：「我在耶和華殿裏得了律法書。」希勒家將書遞給沙番，沙番就看了。書記沙番到王那裏，回覆王說：「你的僕人已將殿裏的銀子倒出數算，交給耶和華殿裏辦事的人了。」書記沙番又對王說：「祭司希勒家遞給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前讀那書。王聽見律法書上的話，便撕裂衣服，吩咐祭司希勒家與沙番的兒子亞希甘、米該亞的兒子亞革波、書記沙番和王的臣僕亞撒雅，說：「你們去為我、為民、為猶大眾人，以這書上的話求問耶和華；因為我們列祖沒有聽從這書上的言語，沒有遵着書上所吩咐我們的去行，耶和華就向我們大發烈怒。」

埃及人的心神必在裏面耗盡；我必敗壞他們的謀略。他們必求問偶像和念咒的、交鬼的、行巫術的。

那時撒母耳已經死了，以色列眾人為他哀哭，葬他在拉瑪，就是在他本城裏。掃羅曾在國內不容有交鬼的和行巫術的人。非利士人聚集，來到書念安營；掃羅聚集以色列眾人在基利波安營。掃羅看見非利士的軍旅就懼怕，心中發顫。掃羅求問耶和華，耶和華卻不藉夢，或烏陵，或先知回答他。掃羅吩咐臣僕說：「當為我找一個交鬼的婦人，我好去問她。」臣僕說：「在隱‧多珥有一個交鬼的婦人。」

他們將奉到耶和華殿的銀子運出來的時候，祭司希勒家偶然得了摩西所傳耶和華的律法書。希勒家對書記沙番說：「我在耶和華殿裏得了律法書。」遂將書遞給沙番。沙番把書拿到王那裏，回覆王說：「凡交給僕人們辦的都辦理了。耶和華殿裏的銀子倒出來，交給督工的和匠人的手裏了。」書記沙番又對王說：「祭司希勒家遞給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前讀那書。王聽見律法上的話，就撕裂衣服，

「因猶大王瑪拿西行這些可憎的惡事比先前亞摩利人所行的更甚，使猶大人拜他的偶像，陷在罪裏；

所以凡有血氣的，沒有一個因行律法能在神面前稱義，因為律法本是叫人知罪。

後來，我們往那禱告的地方去。有一個使女迎着面來，她被巫鬼所附，用法術，叫她主人們大得財利。她跟隨保羅和我們，喊着說：「這些人是至高神的僕人，對你們傳說救人的道。」她一連多日這樣喊叫，保羅就心中厭煩，轉身對那鬼說：「我奉耶穌基督的名，吩咐你從她身上出來！」那鬼當時就出來了。
