But the people did not listen. Manasseh led them astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites.

But the people didn’t pay any attention. Manasseh led them astray. They did more evil things than the nations the Lord had destroyed. He had destroyed them to make room for the Israelites.

所以人若知道善而不去行，就是犯罪。

「如今，我們的上帝啊，事已至此，我們還能說什麼呢？因為我們背棄了你的誡命，就是你藉著你的僕人——眾先知給我們的吩咐，『你們將要佔領的那片土地被當地人的污穢玷污，他們的可憎行徑使那裡充滿污穢。

「然而，他們不順從你，背叛你，把你的律法拋在背後，又殺掉勸誡他們歸向你的眾先知，大大褻瀆了你。

「耶路撒冷啊，耶路撒冷啊！你常殺害先知，又用石頭打死派到你那裡的使者。我多次想要招聚你的兒女，像母雞將小雞招聚在翅膀底下，可是你們卻不肯。

眾人若抑善揚惡，惡人必橫行無忌。

你不僅追隨她們可憎的行徑，還很快超過了她們。

可是有一件事我要責備你，就是你容許那自稱是先知的婦人耶洗別教導我的眾奴僕，引誘他們淫亂、吃祭過偶像的食物。

他們卻嘲弄耶和華上帝的使者，藐視祂的話，嘲笑祂的先知，以致祂的憤怒臨到祂的子民身上，無可挽救。

你警告他們，要使他們遵守你的律法，但他們行事狂傲，不聽從你的誡命，干犯你的典章。人若遵行這典章就必存活，但他們背棄你，頑固不化，不肯聽從。你多年來容忍他們，差遣你的靈藉著你的眾先知警告他們，但他們依然不肯聽從，於是你把他們交在列邦手中。

我如果沒有來教導他們，他們就沒有罪了，但現在他們的罪無可推諉。

撒瑪利亞的罪還不及你的一半，你做的事比她們做的更可憎，以致與你相比，你的姊妹倒顯得公義了。既然你幫了你的姊妹，使她們顯得公義，你就蒙受羞辱吧！因為你犯的罪比你姊妹犯的罪更可憎，以致她們顯得比你更公義。因此，你就自取其辱，抱愧蒙羞吧！

沒有聽從你的僕人——眾先知奉你的名向我們的君王、首領、先祖及國中百姓所說的話。

我們沒有聽從我們的上帝耶和華的話，沒有遵行祂藉祂的僕人——眾先知給我們頒佈的律法。以色列人都違背你的律法，偏離正道，不聽從你的話。你僕人摩西的律法書上所記載的咒詛和審判都落在了我們身上，因為我們得罪了你。

我是你們的上帝耶和華，曾把你們帶出埃及。張開你們的口吧，我必使你們飽足。

以法蓮因甘願追隨偶像而受欺壓，被審判壓碎。
