He took the carved Asherah pole he had made and put it in the temple, of which the Lord had said to David and to his son Solomon,“ In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.

Manasseh had carved a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. He put it in the temple. The Lord had spoken to David and his son Solomon about the temple. He had said,“ My Name will be in this temple and in Jerusalem forever. Out of all the cities in the tribes of Israel I have chosen Jerusalem.

And the carved image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the Lord said to David and to Solomon his son,“ In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever.

Manasseh even made a carved image of Asherah and set it up in the Temple, the very place where the Lord had told David and his son Solomon:“ My name will be honored forever in this Temple and in Jerusalem— the city I have chosen from among all the tribes of Israel.

是他要為我的名建殿，我必堅立他的國位、到永遠。

他又從永恆主殿裏將亞舍拉神木搬出來到耶路撒冷外頭汲淪谿谷那裏，在汲淪谿谷燒它，打碎成灰，將灰撒在平民的墳墓上。

夜間、永恆主向所羅門顯現，對他說：『我聽了你的禱告，也選擇了這地歸我自己、做獻祭的殿。

竟把他們可憎之像立在稱為我名下的殿中，來污瀆它。

現在我選擇了這殿，分別為聖，使我的名長在這裏到永遠；我的眼我的心必日日不斷在這裏。

永恆主說：『我也必遷徙猶大人離開我面前，像我遷徙以色列人一樣；我必棄絕我從前所選擇的這城耶路撒冷、和我所說到我名必在那裏的殿。』

『你人民若在你所差遣他們走的路上出戰攻敵，而向你所選擇的這城、和我為你的名所建的這殿對你禱告，

求你記起你的會眾、你往古所獲得，你所贖回、做你產業之族派的；求你記起錫安山，你向來所居住的。

『你為自己所築永恆主你的上帝的祭壇、不可在壇旁栽甚麼樹木、作為亞舍拉神木。

那麼我就必將以色列人從我所賜給他們的土地上剪滅掉，而我為自己的名所分別為聖的這殿、我也必從我面前丟出，使以色列人在萬族之民中、成為令人談笑令人譏刺的對象。

他又將他所做雕塑物的像立在上帝殿中；這殿卻是永恆主曾對大衛和大衛兒子所羅門指着說：『是在這殿並在我從以色列眾族派中所選擇的耶路撒冷、我要立我的名到永遠的。

卻揀選了猶大的族派，他所愛的錫安山。他建造了他的聖所如高天，像他奠定到永遠的大地。

那麼我就必將以色列人從我所賜給他們的土地上根拔出來，而我為我自己的名所分別為聖的這殿、我也必從我面前丟棄不顧，使它在萬族民中成為令人談笑令人譏刺的對象。

你們若回轉來歸向我，謹守遵行我的誡命，那你們被趕散的人即使在天邊，我也必從那裏將他們招集回來，將他們帶到我所選擇使我名居住的地方。」

因為永恆主揀選了錫安，願意它做自己的幕所：他說：『這是我永永遠遠的安居所；我要在這裏坐着為王，因為我中意它。

他又從永恆主的殿除掉了外族人的神像和雕塑物，以及他在永恆主之殿的山上和耶路撒冷所築的各祭壇，都扔在城外。
