When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”“ Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

After they had gone across, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me. What can I do for you before I’m taken away from you?”“ Please give me a double share of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said,“ Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.”

When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.” And Elisha replied,“ Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.”

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.” So Elisha answered,“ Please, let me inherit two shares of your spirit.”

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask me what I should do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated[ for] the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he[ is] the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn[ is] his.

And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which[ is] upon thee, and will put[ it] upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear[ it] not thyself alone.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that[ was] upon him, and gave[ it] unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass,[ that], when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Then laid they[ their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people,[ that is so] great?

And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I[ am] pure from the blood of all[ men].For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all[ these things], and to build the palace,[ for] the which I have made provision.

Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare[ that] I will render double unto thee;

But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we[ are].While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David[ shall be] as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.

Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand[ upon it]: and Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands.And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened[ it]. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD’S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed[ them].And he said, Take the arrows. And he took[ them]. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed[ it]: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria[ but] thrice.

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.And ye are witnesses of these things.And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom[ is] the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.And thou shalt put[ some] of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask[ counsel] for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in,[ both] he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater[ works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do[ it].
