And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him.“ Get out of here, baldy!” they said.“ Get out of here, baldy!”

Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. He was walking along the road. Some boys came out of the town. They made fun of him.“ Get out of here, baldy!” they said.“ Get out of here! You don’t even have any hair on your head!”

He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying,“ Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!”

Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him.“ Go away, baldy!” they chanted.“ Go away, baldy!”

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking up the path, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, chanting,“ Go up, baldy! Go up, baldy!”

Now he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the road, some young boys came out from the city and ridiculed him and said to him,“ Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!”

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him,“ Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!”

And he went up from thence unto Beth- el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young lads out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking up the path, some small boys came out of the city and harassed him, chanting,“ Go up, baldy! Go up, baldy!”

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till[ there was] no remedy.

Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

But now[ they that are] younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.

Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves[ of] gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.And this thing became a sin: for the people went[ to worship] before the one,[ even] unto Dan.And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that[ is] in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it[ is] the king’s chapel, and it[ is] the king’s court.

[ They were] children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.Upon[ my] right[ hand] rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.They came[ upon me] as a wide breaking in[ of waters]: in the desolation they rolled themselves[ upon me].Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.By the great force[ of my disease] is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me[ not].Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me.Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride[ upon it], and dissolvest my substance.For I know[ that] thou wilt bring me[ to] death, and[ to] the house appointed for all living.Howbeit he will not stretch out[ his] hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction.Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was[ not] my soul grieved for the poor?When I looked for good, then evil came[ unto me]: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.I went mourning without the sun: I stood up,[ and] I cried in the congregation.I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.My harp also is[ turned] to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.

Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning,[ and] your tithes after three years:

But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth,[ and] draw out the tongue?[ are] ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,

That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth[ are] vanity.

But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together:[ yea], the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew[ it] not; they did tear[ me], and ceased not:

And others had trial of[ cruel] mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work[ be] pure, and whether[ it be] right.

So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.

And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest[ it] in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.Likewise also the chief priests mocking[ him], with the scribes and elders, said,He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

Though thou, Israel, play the harlot,[ yet] let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.

But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him[ that was born] after the Spirit, even so[ it is] now.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead[ their] dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

Foolishness[ is] bound in the heart of a child;[ but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof[ that] rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put[ it] upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify[ him].

And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold,[ there appeared] a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
