以諾與上帝親密同行，後來被上帝接去，不在世上了。

以諾因為信而被接到天上，沒有經歷死亡。世人找不到他，因為上帝已經把他接走了。其實他在被接之前，已經得到了肯定，是一個蒙上帝喜悅的人。

那天是一月十日。以色列人從約旦河上來之後，就在耶利哥東邊的吉甲紮營。

耶和華說：「你出來站在山上，站在我面前。」耶和華從那裡經過時，疾風大作，劈山碎石，但耶和華不在風中。疾風過後又有地震，但耶和華不在其中。

耶和華對約書亞說：「今天我除去了你們在埃及受的羞辱。」因此，那地方叫吉甲，沿用至今。

然後，再膏立寧示的孫子耶戶做以色列王，還要膏立亞伯·米何拉人沙法的兒子以利沙做先知來接替你。將來從哈薛刀下逃生的，必被耶戶殺死；從耶戶刀下逃生的，必被以利沙殺死。此外，我在以色列留下七千人，他們未曾跪拜巴力，也未曾親吻巴力。」於是，以利亞離開那裡，找到沙法的兒子以利沙，他正在耕田。他前面有十二對牛，他正趕著第十二對。以利亞走過以利沙身邊時，將自己的外袍搭在他身上。以利沙就撇下牛，追上以利亞說：「請你讓我先回去與父母親吻道別，再跟你走吧。」以利亞說：「你回去吧，別忘了我剛才對你做的事。」以利沙就回去了。他宰了兩頭耕牛，用耕具作柴煮肉分給眾人，然後去跟隨以利亞，服侍他。

耶穌被接回天家的日子快到了，祂決定前往耶路撒冷。

他們邊走邊談，忽然有火馬拉的火車把他們二人隔開，以利亞乘著旋風升上了天。

那時，耶和華從旋風中回答約伯說：

接著天上有大聲音呼喚他們說：「上這裡來！」他們就在敵人的注視下駕雲升上天去。

以利沙回到吉甲，那裡正鬧饑荒。一群先知坐在他面前，他吩咐僕人把一口大鍋放在火上給他們煮湯。

我離開你以後，不知道耶和華的靈會把你帶到哪裡。如果我去告訴亞哈，他來了卻找不到你，必定會殺我。然而，僕人自幼就敬畏耶和華。

耶穌說完這番話，就在他們眼前被提升天，被一朵雲彩接去，離開了他們的視線。

自己在曠野走了一天的路程，來到一棵羅騰樹下，坐下來禱告求死，說：「耶和華啊，我受夠了，求你取走我的性命吧，我不比我的祖先強。」
