七月十七日，方舟停在亚拉腊山上。

我列祖消灭的那些国的众神，有哪一个能拯救自己的子民脱离我的手呢？难道你们的神能拯救你们脱离我的手吗？

也不要让希西家欺骗你们去信赖耶和华说：耶和华一定会解救我们，这城必不会交在亚述王的手中。

“你们要对犹大王希西家说：‘不要让你所信靠的神欺骗你说：耶路撒冷不会交在亚述王的手中。

他倚靠耶和华以色列的神，在他以前或以后的犹大列王中，没有像他的。

他们论到耶路撒冷的神，就好像世上万民的神一样，把他当作是人手所做的。

亚述王西拿基立就拔营离去，返回本地，住在尼尼微。他在自己的神尼斯洛庙里叩拜的时候，他的儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地。他的儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

连我们的仇敌也自己断定，他们的磐石不像我们的磐石。

耶和华就差派一位使者，进入亚述王的军营中，把所有英勇的战士、官长和将帅，尽都消灭了。亚述王满面羞愧返回本国去了。他进入自己的神庙的时候，他亲生的儿子在那里用刀把他杀了。
