七月十七日，方舟停在亞拉臘山上。

不要聽希西迦的話去倚靠耶和華，說什麼耶和華必拯救你們，這城必不會落在亞述王手中。』

「不要讓你所倚靠的上帝愚弄你，說什麼耶路撒冷必不會被亞述王攻陷。

希西迦信靠以色列的上帝耶和華，在他前後的猶大諸王沒有一個可與他相比。

他把耶路撒冷的上帝與世間人手所造的神像相提並論。

亞述王西拿基立便拔營回國，住在尼尼微。有一天，他在廟中祭拜他的神明尼斯洛的時候，他兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，然後逃往亞拉臘。他兒子以撒哈頓繼位。

我們的敵人也承認他們的磐石不如我們的磐石。

耶和華就差遣一個天使進入亞述王營中，毀滅了所有的勇士、官長和將領。西拿基立只好滿臉羞愧地返回自己的國家。趁他去他神明的廟裡時，他的幾個親生兒子用刀殺了他。
