斯諸族又敬畏主、又事其偶像、子子孫孫咸如斯、其祖所行、彼眾亦行之、至於今日、

Even while these people were worshiping the Lord, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.

They worshiped the Lord. But at the same time, they served the statues of their gods. And to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do what their people before them did.

So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images. Their children did likewise, and their children’s children— as their fathers did, so they do to this day.

So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.

They feared the LORD but also served their idols. Still today, their children and grandchildren continue doing as their ancestors did.

還有那些在屋頂拜天上萬象的，那些敬拜耶和華指着他起誓，卻又指着米勒公起誓的；

「一個人不能服侍兩個主；他不是恨這個愛那個，就是重這個輕那個。你們不能又服侍神，又服侍瑪門。」

以利亞近前來對眾百姓說：「你們心持二意要到幾時呢？如果耶和華是神，就當順從耶和華；如果是巴力，就當順從巴力。」百姓一言不答。

他們懼怕耶和華，卻從他們中間立丘壇的祭司，在丘壇的廟中為他們獻祭。他們懼怕耶和華，但又事奉自己的神明，從何邦遷來，就隨從那裏的風俗，

「現在你們要敬畏耶和華，誠心誠意事奉他，除掉你們列祖在大河那邊和在埃及事奉的神明，事奉耶和華。若你們認為事奉耶和華不好，今日就可以選擇所要事奉的：是你們列祖在大河那邊所事奉的神明，或是你們所住這地亞摩利人的神明呢？至於我和我家，我們必定事奉耶和華。」百姓回答說：「我們絕不離棄耶和華去事奉別神。因為耶和華－我們的神曾領我們和我們的祖宗從埃及地為奴之家出來，在我們眼前行了那些大神蹟，並在我們所行的一切路上，和所經過的各民族中保護了我們。耶和華又把各民族和住此地的亞摩利人都從我們面前趕出去。所以，我們也必事奉耶和華，因為他是我們的神。」約書亞對百姓說：「你們不能事奉耶和華，因為他是神聖的神，是忌邪的神，必不赦免你們的過犯罪惡。你們若離棄耶和華去事奉外邦的神明，耶和華在降福之後，必轉而降禍給你們，把你們滅絕。」

我知道你的行為，你也不冷也不熱；我巴不得你或冷或熱。既然你如溫水，也不冷也不熱，我要從我口中把你吐出去。

猶大和便雅憫的敵人聽說被擄歸回的人為耶和華－以色列的神建造殿宇，就去見所羅巴伯和族長，對他們說：「請讓我們與你們一同建造，因為我們也與你們一樣尋求你們的神。自從亞述王以撒‧哈頓帶我們上這地的日子以來，我們常向神獻祭。」但所羅巴伯、耶書亞和其餘以色列的族長對他們說：「我們建造神的殿與你們無關，因為我們要照波斯王居魯士所吩咐的，自己為耶和華－以色列的神協力建造。」
