斯諸族又敬畏主、又事其偶像、子子孫孫咸如斯、其祖所行、彼眾亦行之、至於今日、

Even while these people were worshiping the Lord, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.

They worshiped the Lord. But at the same time, they served the statues of their gods. And to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do what their people before them did.

So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images. Their children did likewise, and their children’s children— as their fathers did, so they do to this day.

So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.

They feared the LORD but also served their idols. Still today, their children and grandchildren continue doing as their ancestors did.

我必铲除那些在屋顶祭拜天上万象的人，铲除敬拜我、凭我起誓又凭米勒公起誓的人，

“一个人不能服侍两位主人，因为他不是恨这位、爱那位，就是重这位、轻那位。你们不能又事奉上帝，又崇拜金钱。

以利亚走到众人面前说：“你们三心二意要到什么时候呢？如果耶和华是上帝，你们当跟从祂；如果巴力是上帝，你们就跟从他吧！”他们都默不作声。

他们也敬拜耶和华，却委任各种人做祭司，在高岗上的神庙为他们献祭。他们就这样既敬拜耶和华，又各按各的风俗供奉自己的神明。

“所以，你们要敬畏耶和华，诚心诚意地事奉祂，摒弃你们祖先在幼发拉底河那边和在埃及所拜的神明，专心事奉耶和华。如果你们不愿意事奉耶和华，今天就选择你们的神明吧，或大河那边你们祖先事奉的神明，或你们这里亚摩利人的神明。至于我和我全家，我们必事奉耶和华。”民众答道：“我们决不背弃耶和华去事奉别的神明，因为我们的上帝耶和华曾领我们和我们的祖先脱离埃及人的奴役，在我们眼前行大神迹，一路保护我们安然经过列邦。耶和华把这地方的亚摩利人等外族人从我们面前赶走了，我们必事奉祂，因为祂是我们的上帝。”约书亚说：“你们不能事奉耶和华，祂是一位圣洁的上帝，祂痛恨不贞，必不赦免你们的过犯和罪恶。如果你们背弃耶和华，去拜外族的神明，尽管祂曾经恩待你们，也必降祸给你们，毁灭你们。”

‘我知道你的行为，你不冷也不热。我情愿你或冷或热，可是现在你却像温水一样不冷不热，我必将你从我口中吐出去！

犹大和便雅悯的敌人听说流亡者回来要为以色列的上帝耶和华建殿，就去见所罗巴伯和以色列的族长，对他们说：“请让我们与你们一同建造，因为我们像你们一样也寻求你们的上帝。自从亚述王以撒哈顿带我们到这里以后，我们就一直献祭给上帝。”所罗巴伯、耶书亚和以色列其余的族长回答说：“你们不能参与建殿。遵照波斯王塞鲁士的吩咐，我们要自己为以色列的上帝耶和华建殿。”
