When he tore Israel away from the house of David, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat their king. Jeroboam enticed Israel away from following the Lord and caused them to commit a great sin.

The Lord took control of Israel away from the royal house of David. The Israelites made Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, their king. Jeroboam tried to get Israel to stop following the Lord. He caused them to commit a terrible sin.

When he had torn Israel from the house of David, they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. And Jeroboam drove Israel from following the Lord and made them commit great sin.

故此永恆主對他說：『你既以這事為念，不遵守我的約和律例、就是我所吩咐你守的，那麼我就一定從你手裏撕裂你的國、而賜給你的臣僕。

對耶羅波安說：『你拿十片去；因為永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：「看吧，我必從所羅門手裏將國撕裂開來、將十個族派賜給你。（

耶羅波安王就打定了主意，造了兩隻金牛犢，對眾民說：『以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去已經夠了；看哪，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的。』他就把牛犢一隻立在伯特利，一隻安在但。這事就是犯罪，因為眾民到伯特利一隻牛犢面前去敬拜，也到遠在但地的那一隻面前去。

因了耶羅波安的罪、就是他自己犯了的、又使以色列人犯了的、永恆主必將以色列人放棄了。』

王不聽眾民的要求，這一個事態是出於上帝，為要使永恆主實行了他的話、他由示羅人亞希雅經手對尼八兒子耶羅波安所說過的話。以色列眾民見王不聽他們的要求，就回答王說：『我們在大衛上有甚麼分兒呢？我們在耶西的兒子上並沒有業分呀。以色列人哪，各回各家去吧！大衛啊，現在只顧你自己的家吧。』於是以色列眾人都回家去了。惟獨住猶大眾城市的以色列人、羅波安仍然作他們的王。羅波安王差遣了掌管作苦工的人哈多蘭往以色列人那裏去；以色列人扔石頭砍他、砍到他死去。羅波安王猛速地上車，逃回耶路撒冷。這樣，以色列人就背叛了大衛家、直到今日。

耶羅波安卻為邱壇、為野山羊神、為自己所造的牛犢設立了祭司。

永恆主啊，為你名的緣故赦免我的罪愆哦，因為我的罪很大。

將國從大衛家撕裂開來、賜給了你；你卻不像我僕人大衛遵守我的誡命、全心跟從我，行我所看為對的事；

永恆主必使患難的日子臨到你和你的人民、以及你父的家，就是自從以法蓮脫離猶大以來、未曾有過這樣日子的——亞述王之侵犯。』

這樣，那兩個青年人的罪在永恆主面前就非常大了，因為人們都藐視獻與永恆主的供物。

這樣，以色列人就背叛了大衛家、直到今日。以色列眾人聽見耶羅波安從埃及回來了，便打發人去請他到會眾面前，就立他作王管理以色列眾人：除了猶大族派以外、沒有跟從大衛家的。

耶穌回答說：『若不是從上頭給了你，你就毫無權柄辦我；故此那把我送交給你的、犯了更大的罪。』

羅波安又將這些堡障防守得很堅固，安置將官在裏面，貯藏着糧食、油、酒；

亞比米勒把亞伯拉罕召來，對他說：『你怎麼向我們這樣行呢？我得罪了你甚麼，你竟使我和我國內的人都陷於大罪呢？你向我行了不該行的事了。』

摩西對亞倫說：『這人民向你作了甚麼，你竟使他們陷於大罪呀？』

我兒啊，不可這樣；我親自聽見的報告很不好：你們使永恆主的人民有過犯了。
