They forsook all the commands of the Lord their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal.

They turned away from all the commands of the Lord their God. They made two statues of gods for themselves. The statues were shaped like calves. They made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. They bowed down to all the stars. And they worshiped the god named Baal.

And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.

They rejected all the commands of the Lord their God and made two calves from metal. They set up an Asherah pole and worshiped Baal and all the forces of heaven.

又恐怕你向天举目，看见耶和华—你的上帝为天下万民所摆列的日月星辰，就是天上的万象，就被诱惑去敬拜它们，事奉它们。

他重新建筑他父亲希西家所毁坏的丘坛，又为巴力筑坛，造亚舍拉，效法以色列王亚哈所行的，敬拜天上的万象，事奉它们。

制造偶像的人尽都虚空，他们所喜悦的全无益处；偶像的见证人毫无所见，毫无所知，以致他们羞愧。谁制造神像，铸造偶像？这些都是无益的。

亚伦从他们手里接过来，用模子塑造它，把它铸成一头牛犊。他们就说：“以色列啊，这是领你出埃及地的神明！”

散布在太阳、月亮和天上众星之下，就是他们从前所喜爱、所事奉、所随从、所求问、所敬拜的。这些骸骨不被收殓，不被埋葬，必在地面上成为粪土。

有火在他们党中点燃，有火焰烧毁了恶人。他们在何烈山造了牛犊，叩拜铸成的像，将他们荣耀的主换为吃草之牛的像，

在各高冈上、各青翠树下立柱像和亚舍拉；

他们这么快偏离了我所吩咐的道，为自己铸了一头牛犊，向它跪拜，向它献祭，说：‘以色列啊，这就是领你出埃及地的神明。’”

耶户召集众百姓，对他们说：“亚哈事奉巴力还不够热心，耶户更要热心。现在你们召集巴力的众先知和所有拜巴力的人，以及巴力的众祭司，都到我这里来，一个也不可缺少，因为我要给巴力献大祭；凡不来的必不得活。”耶户行诡诈，为要消灭拜巴力的人。耶户说：“要为巴力召集严肃会！”于是他们宣告了。耶户派人走遍以色列；凡拜巴力的人都来齐了，没有留下一个不来的。他们进了巴力庙，巴力庙中前后都挤满了人。耶户对掌管服装的人说：“拿出袍子来，给所有拜巴力的人穿。”他就拿出礼服来给了他们。耶户和利甲的儿子约拿达进了巴力庙，对拜巴力的人说：“你们要搜查察看，不可以有耶和华的仆人在你们这里，只可以有拜巴力的人。”他们进去，献上祭物和燔祭，耶户先安排八十人在庙外，说：“我把这些人交在你们手中，谁放走其中一人，谁就要以命偿命！”耶户献完了燔祭，就对护卫兵和众军官说：“进去杀他们，不要让一人逃脱！”护卫兵和军官用刀杀了他们，将尸体抛出去，然后进入巴力庙的堡垒，将巴力庙中的柱像都拿出来焚烧。他们毁坏巴力的柱像，拆毁了巴力庙当厕所，直到今日。这样，耶户在以色列中消灭了巴力。
