They forsook all the commands of the Lord their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal.

They turned away from all the commands of the Lord their God. They made two statues of gods for themselves. The statues were shaped like calves. They made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. They bowed down to all the stars. And they worshiped the god named Baal.

And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.

They rejected all the commands of the Lord their God and made two calves from metal. They set up an Asherah pole and worshiped Baal and all the forces of heaven.

他不但步尼八的兒子耶羅波安的後塵，還娶了西頓王葉巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻，供奉、祭拜巴力。

耶和華將擊打以色列人，使他們像水中的蘆葦一樣顫抖不已。耶和華將把以色列人從祂賜給他們祖先的佳美之地連根拔起，拋散到幼發拉底河的彼岸，這都是因為他們製造亞舍拉神像，惹耶和華發怒。

他們在各高崗上、樹蔭下為自己建造邱壇，豎立神柱和亞舍拉神像，

當你們舉目觀看你們的上帝耶和華賜給天下萬民的日、月、星辰等天上萬象時，不要受誘惑去跪拜、供奉它們。

他重建他父親希西迦拆毀的邱壇，效法以色列王亞哈為巴力築造祭壇，製造亞舍拉神像，並且祭拜和供奉天上的萬象。

他還造了亞舍拉神像，所作所為比先前諸王更惹以色列的上帝耶和華發怒。

他像他父親一樣供奉、祭拜巴力，惹以色列的上帝耶和華發怒。

亞撒還廢除了他祖母瑪迦的太后之位，因為她造了可憎的亞舍拉神像。亞撒把她的神像砍倒，放在汲淪溪燒掉。

於是，民眾出去拆毀了巴力廟，砸碎祭壇和偶像，在壇前殺了巴力的祭司瑪坦。耶何耶大派守衛保護耶和華的殿，

製造偶像的真是無用，他們珍愛的偶像毫無價值。拜神像的人目盲眼瞎，愚昧無知，自找羞辱。製造神像、雕刻無益偶像的是誰？

亞倫用這些金耳環鑄造了一頭牛犢。他們說：「以色列人啊，這就是把你們帶出埃及的神明。」

拋散在他們昔日戀慕、供奉、追隨、求問、祭拜的日月星辰之下，無人收殮和埋葬，他們好像地上的糞便。

火在他們的黨羽中燒起，消滅了這些惡人。他們在何烈山鑄造牛犢，祭拜偶像，他們把榮耀的上帝變成了吃草之牛的鑄像。

在各高崗上、綠樹下立神柱和亞舍拉神像，

他們這麼快就偏離了我吩咐他們走的道路，為自己造了一頭牛犢來叩拜獻祭，說，『以色列人啊，這就是把你們帶出埃及的神明。』」

耶戶召集了所有的人，對他們說：「亞哈供奉巴力還不夠熱心，我耶戶要更熱心地供奉他。我要向巴力獻大祭，你們去把巴力的先知和祭司及所有拜巴力的人一個不漏地召來。凡不來的人休想活命。」耶戶這樣做，是想用計殺盡拜巴力的人。耶戶下令召開祭拜巴力的莊嚴聚會，於是他們發出通告。耶戶派人送信到以色列各地，凡拜巴力的人全都來了，沒有一個缺席。他們把整個巴力廟塞得滿滿的。耶戶吩咐掌管禮服的人拿出禮服給他們穿上，然後他和利甲的兒子約拿達進廟向他們宣佈說：「你們仔細察看，這裡不可有事奉耶和華的人，只允許拜巴力的人在這裡。」耶戶和約拿達在廟裡獻上祭物和燔祭。此前，他預先派了八十人在廟外守著，並下令：「我把這些人交在你們手中，誰放走一個，誰就要以命抵償。」耶戶獻完燔祭出來，便命令衛兵和將領說：「進去殺死他們，不要放走一人。」衛兵和將領進廟揮刀殺了他們，把屍首拋出去後，走入廟的內殿，將巴力神柱搬出去燒了。他們摧毀了巴力的神柱和廟，把廟當作廁所，至今未變。這樣，耶戶從以色列掃除了巴力。
