They rejected his decrees and the covenant he had made with their ancestors and the statutes he had warned them to keep. They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless. They imitated the nations around them although the Lord had ordered them,“ Do not do as they do.”

They refused to obey his rules. They broke the covenant he had made with them. They didn’t pay any attention to the rules he had warned them to keep. They worshiped worthless statues of gods. Then they themselves became worthless. They followed the example of the nations around them. They did it even though the Lord had ordered them not to. He had said,“ Do not do as they do.”

They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.

They rejected his decrees and the covenant he had made with their ancestors, and they despised all his warnings. They worshiped worthless idols, so they became worthless themselves. They followed the example of the nations around them, disobeying the Lord’s command not to imitate them.

那时你要谨慎，在他们从你面前被除灭之后，你不可受引诱随从他们，也不可求问他们的神明，说：‘这些国家怎样事奉他们的神明，我也要照样做。’你不可向耶和华—你的神这样做，因为他们向他们的神明做了耶和华所憎恨、所厌恶的一切事，甚至将自己的儿女用火焚烧，献给他们的神明。

他们以那不是神的激起我妒忌，以虚无的神明惹我发怒。我要以不成国的激起你们嫉妒，我要以愚顽的国惹起你们发怒。

因为，他们虽然知道神，却不把他当作神荣耀他，也不感谢他。他们的思想变为虚妄，无知的心昏暗了。他们自以为聪明，反成了愚昧，将不能朽坏之神的荣耀变为偶像，仿照必朽坏的人、飞禽、走兽、爬虫的形像。

耶和华如此说：“你们的祖先看我有什么错处，竟远离我，随从那虚无的神明，自己成为虚无呢？

智慧人惭愧，惊惶，被擒拿；看哪，他们背弃耶和华的话，还会有什么智慧呢？

这是因为巴沙和他儿子以拉的一切罪，就是他们使以色列陷入罪里的那罪，以虚无的神明惹耶和华—以色列的神发怒。

摩西将血的一半盛在盆中，另一半洒在坛上。然后，他拿起约书来，念给百姓听。他们说：“耶和华所吩咐的一切，我们都必遵行，也必听从。”摩西把血洒在百姓身上，说：“看哪！这是立约的血，是耶和华按照这一切的命令和你们立约的凭据。”

我一再差遣我的仆人众先知去，说：你们切不可行我所厌恶这可憎之事。

在各丘坛上烧香，效法耶和华在他们面前赶出的外邦人所行的，又行恶事，惹耶和华发怒。他们事奉偶像，耶和华对他们说：“你们不可做这事。”

偶像都是虚无的，是迷惑人的作品，到受罚的时刻必被除灭。

不可偏离去随从那没有益处、不能救人的虚无的神明，因为它们是虚无的。

关于吃祭过偶像的食物，我们知道“偶像在世上算不得什么”；也知道“神只有一位，没有别的”。

这约不像我拉着他们祖宗的手，领他们出埃及地的时候与他们所立的约。我虽作他们的丈夫，他们却背了我的约。这是耶和华说的。

你警戒他们，要使他们归顺你的律法。他们却行事狂傲，不听从你的诫命，干犯你的典章，人若遵行就必因此存活。他们顽梗地扭转肩头，硬着颈项，不肯听从。但你多年宽容他们，又以你的灵藉众先知劝戒他们，他们仍不侧耳而听，所以你将他们交在列邦民族的手中。

甚至我们的仇敌都承认，他们的磐石不如我们的磐石。

“今日你们全都要站在耶和华—你们的神面前，就是各领袖、族长、长老、官长、以色列所有的男子、你们的妻子儿女、你营中寄居的，从为你砍柴到为你挑水的人，为要使你进入耶和华—你神的约，就是耶和华—你神今日向你起誓所立的；这样，他今日要立你作他的子民，他作你的神，是照他向你所应许的，又照他向你列祖亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所起的誓。我不单单与你们立这约，起这誓，就是今日与我们一同站在耶和华—我们神面前的，而且也包括今日不在我们这里的人。

你们烧香，得罪耶和华，不听耶和华的话，不遵行他的律法、条例、法度，所以你们遭遇这灾祸，正如今日一样。”

“‘然而，他们不顺从，竟背叛你，将你的律法丢在背后，又杀害那些劝他们回转归向你的众先知，犯了亵渎的大罪。

造它们的要像它们一样，凡靠它们的也必如此。

随从耶和华在以色列人面前所赶出外邦人的风俗和以色列诸王所立的规条。

要谨慎遵守耶和华—你们神的诫命，和他所吩咐的法度、律例。耶和华眼中看为正直和美善的事，你都要遵行，使你得福，可以进去得耶和华向你列祖起誓应许的美地，

他行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，效法耶和华在以色列人面前赶出的列国那些可憎的事。

玛拿西引诱犹大和耶路撒冷的居民行恶，比耶和华在以色列人面前所灭的列国更严重。

他们如同畜牲，尽都愚昧。偶像的训诲算什么呢？偶像不过是木头，

耶和华—他们列祖的神因为爱惜自己的百姓和居所，一再差遣使者去警戒他们。他们却嘲笑神的使者，藐视他的话，讥诮他的先知，以致耶和华向他的百姓大发烈怒，甚至无法可救。

人必说：‘这是因为这地的人离弃了耶和华—他们列祖的神领他们出埃及地的时候与他们所立的约，去事奉别神，敬拜他们所不认识的神明，这是耶和华未曾允许的。

耶稣又说：“现在舀出来，送给宴会总管。”他们就送了去。
