亞哈斯王砍斷了盆座邊緣，將洗濯盆從座上挪下來，又把銅海從馱海的銅牛上拆下來、放在鋪石地。又因亞述王的緣故、將聖殿為安息日所建的廊子、和王從外邊進殿經過的走廊、都從永恆主的殿拆走。

希西家就把永恆主殿裏和王宮府庫裏所有的銀子都交出。那時猶大王希西家將永恆主殿堂門上的金子、和他自己包在門柱上的金子都刮下來、給了亞述王。

亞述王提革拉毘尼色上到他那裏，卻使他受困迫，並沒有使他得助力。亞哈斯剝取了永恆主殿裏和王宮中跟首領家裏的財物給亞述王，也無濟於事。

於是亞撒從永恆主之殿和王宮的府庫裏拿出金銀來，送給住大馬色的亞蘭王便哈達，說：

因此、你看吧，主必使大河的水，又強又大的水，就是亞述王和他所有的威榮，起來淹沒他們；大水必漲起、高過一切水溝，它必橫流，漫過所有的河岸；並且必沖掃猶大，氾濫瀰漫，直到人的脖子；但主展開的翅膀必遮遍你廣闊的國土；上帝是與我們同在的。』

他掘了陷阱，給挖深了，竟掉在自己所造的坑裏。他的毒害必回到他自己頭上；他的強暴必落到他自己頭頂。

永恆主必使患難的日子臨到你和你的人民、以及你父的家，就是自從以法蓮脫離猶大以來、未曾有過這樣日子的——亞述王之侵犯。』
