他重蹈亚哈家的覆辙，因为他的母亲唆使他作恶。

他与亚哈家一样步以色列诸王的后尘，因为他娶了亚哈的女儿为妻，做耶和华视为恶的事。

他污渎欣嫩子谷中的陀斐特，使人们不能焚烧自己的儿女献给摩洛。

他不但步尼八的儿子耶罗波安的后尘，还娶了西顿王叶巴力的女儿耶洗别为妻，供奉、祭拜巴力。他在撒玛利亚为巴力建庙，在庙里为巴力设立祭坛。他还造了亚舍拉神像，所作所为比先前诸王更惹以色列的上帝耶和华发怒。

他做耶和华视为恶的事，步他父母的后尘，效法使以色列人陷入罪中的尼八之子耶罗波安。他像他父亲一样供奉、祭拜巴力，惹以色列的上帝耶和华发怒。

你们至今仍把自己的儿子烧作祭物献给偶像，玷污自己吗？以色列人啊，我会让你们求问吗？主耶和华说，我凭我的永恒起誓，我决不让你们求问。
