Elisha said,“ Open the east window.” So he opened it. Elisha said,“ Shoot!” So he shot. Then Elisha said,“ The LORD’s arrow of victory, yes, the arrow of victory over Aram. You are to strike down the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”

“ Open the east window,” Elisha said. So he did.“ Shoot!” Elisha said. So he shot.“ That’s the Lord’ s arrow!” Elisha announced.“ It means you will win the battle over Aram! You will completely destroy the men of Aram at Aphek.”

And he said,“ Open the window eastward,” and he opened it. Then Elisha said,“ Shoot,” and he shot. And he said,“ The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria! For you shall fight the Syrians in Aphek until you have made an end of them.”

Then he commanded,“ Open that eastern window,” and he opened it. Then he said,“ Shoot!” So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed,“ This is the Lord’s arrow, an arrow of victory over Aram, for you will completely conquer the Arameans at Aphek.”

And he said,“ Open the window toward the east,” and he opened it. Then Elisha said,“ Shoot!” So he shot. And he said,“ The Lord’s arrow of victory, and the arrow of victory over Aram; for you will defeat the Arameans at Aphek until you have put an end to them.”

And he said,“ Open the east window”; and he opened it. Then Elisha said,“ Shoot”; and he shot. And he said,“ The arrow of the LORD’s deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them.”

And he said, Open the window eastward; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot; and he shot. And he said, Jehovah’s arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Syria; for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

Elisha said,“ Open the east window.” So he opened it. Elisha said,“ Shoot!” So he shot. Then Elisha said,“ The Lord’s arrow of victory, yes, the arrow of victory over Aram. You are to strike down the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”

Elisha said,“ Open the east window,” and he did so. Elisha said,“ Shoot!” and he did so. Elisha said,“ This arrow symbolizes the victory the LORD will give you over Syria. You will annihilate Syria in Aphek!”

He said,“ Open the window eastward;” and he opened it. Then Elisha said,“ Shoot!” and he shot. He said,“ Yahweh’s arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Syria; for you will strike the Syrians in Aphek, until you have consumed them.”

In the spring, Ben-hadad mobilized the Arameans and went up to Aphek to battle Israel.

“ Do whatever he tells you,” his mother told the servants.Now six stone water jars had been set there for Jewish purification. Each contained twenty or thirty gallons.“ Fill the jars with water,” Jesus told them. Then Elisha sent him a messenger, who said,“ Go wash seven times in the Jordan and your skin will be restored and you will be clean.”But Naaman got angry and left, saying,“ I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the skin disease.Aren’t Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and left in a rage.But his servants approached and said to him,“ My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more should you do it when he only tells you,‘ Wash and be clean’?”So Naaman went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, according to the command of the man of God. Then his skin was restored and became like the skin of a small boy, and he was clean.

That night the LORD said to him,“ Get up and attack the camp, for I have handed it over to you.But if you are afraid to attack the camp, go down with Purah your servant.Listen to what they say, and then you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” So he went down with Purah his servant to the outpost of the troops who were in the camp.Now the Midianites, Amalekites, and all the people of the east had settled down in the valley like a swarm of locusts, and their camels were as innumerable as the sand on the seashore.When Gideon arrived, there was a man telling his friend about a dream. He said,“ Listen, I had a dream: a loaf of barley bread came tumbling into the Midianite camp, struck a tent, and it fell. The loaf turned the tent upside down so that it collapsed.”His friend answered,“ This is nothing less than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has handed the entire Midianite camp over to him.”When Gideon heard the account of the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship. He returned to Israel’s camp and said,“ Get up, for the LORD has handed the Midianite camp over to you.”Then he divided the three hundred men into three companies and gave each of the men a ram’s horn in one hand and an empty pitcher with a torch inside it in the other hand.“ Watch me,” he said to them,“ and do what I do. When I come to the outpost of the camp, do as I do.When I and everyone with me blow our ram’s horns, you are also to blow your ram’s horns all around the camp. Then you will say,‘ For the LORD and for Gideon!’”Gideon and the hundred men who were with him went to the outpost of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch after the sentries had been stationed. They blew their ram’s horns and broke the pitchers that were in their hands.The three companies blew their ram’s horns and shattered their pitchers. They held their torches in their left hands and their ram’s horns to blow in their right hands, and they shouted,“ A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!”

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is the power of God to us who are being saved.

And Samuel’s words came to all Israel. Israel went out to meet the Philistines in battle and camped at Ebenezer while the Philistines camped at Aphek.
